When his emotionstried to rise to take control, Saber glanced back at the Savages.Bloodlust and anticipation took over as his fangs throbbed; theseemotions he could handle.

He wouldthoroughly enjoy killing these things.

Taking a deepbreath, he shifted his attention ahead of them again. He had noidea how their conversation had taken this turn, but he’d prefernot to talk about this shit, especially with her.

CHAPTER 33

“This way,” hesaid and steered her through the crowd gathered around a shootinggallery.

“How long has itbeen since you saw your sister?” Caro asked.

“Almost fivehundred years.”

Caro barelymanaged to keep from gawking. “How old are you?”

“Five hundred andeighteen. How old are you?”

“Twenty-seven.”

“A baby.”

“Just because youcould be a great, great, great, greatmany times overgrandpa does not make me a baby,” she retorted.

Saber glanced herway as a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “But I still fucklike I’m in my twenties, and you were more than eager for this oldman’s kiss.”

This time, her jawdropped before she scowled at him. “That was before I realizedyou’re probably shooting dust for cum.”

A startled bark oflaughter escaped Saber before he silenced it. He couldn’t recallthe last time he laughed or found anything entertaining, but notonly did this woman arouse him more than any other, she also amusedhim. He liked it far more than he should have.

Recalling she wasalso on the demon and Savage’s most wanted list, his amusementvanished, and he steered her behind the spinning Gravitron full ofscreaming riders. A worker stood near the chain-link fence twentyfeet beyond the ride.

The teen wassmoking a cigarette as he scrolled through his phone. He glanced atthem before returning to his screen. If he was there to stop peoplefrom climbing the fence, he didn’t bother as his attention remainedriveted on his phone.

“You go first,”Saber said as they stopped beside the fence.

He kept hisattention on the approaching Savages. The determined looks on theirfaces said they planned to make their move soon.

“Hurry,” he saidwhen Caro glanced back at them.

The kid lifted hishead and threw away his cigarette as he looked at Saber.

“If you want tolive, you should leave,” Saber said to him.

Lowering hisphone, the kid stared at him, but the teen scurried away when Saberheld his gaze and didn’t speak. The Savages had passed theGravitron when Caro landed on the other side of the fence.

Grasping one ofthe holes in the fence, Saber vaulted himself over and landedbeside her. It wouldn’t take long before his prey was on this sidetoo.

Clasping her elbowagain, Saber didn’t look back as he strolled into the woods. Hisbody hummed with anticipation, and he couldn’t restrain his fangsas they slid free. Saliva filled his mouth; he couldn’t wait to seetheir blood splattering the ground.

As they walkedthrough the trees, he became aware of the houses disappearing inand out of the trees. The houses were spaced far apart, and woodsmostly surrounded them, but he’d prefer not to deal with the policeif someone called them. This would have to be as noiseless aspossible.

They had enoughproblems to deal with.

His hand slidinside his jacket, and he removed a stake. “We’re far enough awayfrom the park.”

“For what?” Caroasked.

“It’s best if youstay out of the way.”
