When Magnus growled against me, itreverberated my clit and sent me over the edge. Releasing my asswith one hand, he used it to cover my mouth as I came apart with awild cry. Joy suffused my trembling body as his pride over mypleasure beat against me.

Removing his hand from my mouth, he loweredme to the ground and gripped the button of his pants while my handsran over his horns as if they were his shaft. A fresh jolt ofexcitement washed through me when he lowered himself over meagain.

We were far from done.

I felt his button release against my belly, and his zipper slid down. Long and thick, his shaft heated mystomach after he freed it from his pants. When Magnus lifted hishead to gaze down at me, his silver eyes were nearly black withdesire, but there was also a strange curiosity in them Iunderstood. Neither of us knew what to make of the other or whatwas happening between us.

Gripping his shaft, he shifted himself as heguided it toward me. My heart hammered when the silken head of itbrushed my thigh. Then, he was rubbing it against my core andspreading my wetness before pressing it against my entrance. Iopened my legs further when he started to enter me.

Gripping his horns, I drew him toward me foranother kiss and froze when I saw the jinni stepping around thewaterfall. I blinked away the water coating my lashes as I tried tofigure out if what I was seeing was real or not. But Nalki remainedstanding there with his full lips pulled back to reveal his teethand his blue eyes sparkling with amusement.

“Magnus, look out!” I cried, and with myhands still on his horns, I clenched my thighs against his torsoand jerked him to the side as Nalki rushed us.

Magnus tried to turn to see, but our rollingmotion pulled him beneath me and his cock away as we spun under thewaterfall. Water pummeled my back, battering my bones and bruisingmy flesh. Magnus embraced me firmly against him and yanked me underhim, so he took the brunt of the water.

I caught a glimpse of Nalki through thethick curtain of water. And then we were falling.

It was a two-foot fall before we plungedinto the pool and the force of the waterfall pushed us to thebottom. The water enveloping me calmed the rage Nalki emitted anddoused my remaining lust. It also healed my battered body as itcleansed me of the remaining life force clinging to me.

Then, my foot touched a stone, and a wave ofpower flowed from the ground and into me. It tingled through mylegs as it spread through my belly and up to my chest. Myinvoluntary sigh drew a rush of water into my mouth. Choking, Itried to spit it out, but now that I’d opened my mouth, I couldn’tcut off the flow of water filling it. My throat and nose burned asair bubbles erupted before me and the water stifled my scream.

Not immortal yet.I clawed at thewater to pull myself up, but Magnus’s legs kicked against mine ashe dragged us out from beneath the crush of the waterfall andpropelled us toward the surface.

When we burst free, I spit out water, choking and coughing as I greedily inhaled gulps of air.

“Are you okay?” Magnus demanded, his concernso strong it suppressed all other emotions. He pushed the hair frommy face and wiped it from my eyes as I clung to his shoulders.“Amalia, areyouokay?”

I opened my eyes in time to watch Nalki leapat us and catch Magnus by his shoulders.

CHAPTER 27

Magnus

When the jinni gripped my shoulders, I releasedAmalia and flipped myself back into the water. The jinni wasbeneath me when we sank below the surface; his fingers digging intomy flesh drew blood as he retained his hold.

Trying to dislodge him, I twisted within hisgrasp until we were face-to-face. My chest constricted when themaneuver caused me to lose sight of Amalia. She was okay. I’d lastseen her swimming toward the rocks, but were there more jinnsomewhere nearby? If there were, they’d try to take her fromme.

I’d only seen this one, but that didn’t meanmore of them weren’t waiting to move in on us. My desperation toreach her gave me an unexpected rush of strength. Drawing my feetup, I planted them in the jinni’s body and shoved off him.Scrambling to try and keep his hold on me, the jinni’s fingersgouged my flesh before he clutched my shirt. When the material gaveway, he lost his grip on me and spiraled toward the bottom.

Water surged around me; bubbles swirled pastas I kicked toward the surface. Bursting free, I twisted in thewater in search of Amalia.

“Magnus!” I spun to find her kneeling on therocks with her hand stretched toward me. “Hurry!”

“Are there more?” I demanded as I swamtoward her.

“Not that I’ve seen.”

“Are you injured?”

Water sluiced off and spilled around me whenI grabbed the rocks and pulled myself out of the pool to sit besideher. Adjusting myself, I zipped and buttoned my pants.

“Nothing major.” Her troubled eyes fell onthe blood oozing from the gashes the jinni had torn into me. “Areyouokay?”

“Fine.” Taking her hand, I rose and pulledher away from the water as the jinni emerged and swam toward theother side of the pool.

“We should go,” Amalia said and tugged at myarm.

I didn’t budge as the jinni pulled himselfonto the rocks and spun to face us. I recognized him as one of thejinn who spoke with her parents about keeping Amalia safe. He wasthe one who believed she was too soft and would be better offliving with the other Faulted.
