Vicky sucked in a breath and bit herlip.
“AndIam in charge of them all.”
“Nathan….” She reached for him beforelowering her hand.
Protect yourself, Vicky.
But it was already too late to protectherself. Like a thief, he’d stolen her heart without her realizinghe was doing it. Lifting her hand, she rested it on his arm. Heglanced at her before focusing on the crowded city streets oncemore.
“The Savages and Josephwillpay forthis,” she said.
“Yes, they will.” He stopped at another redlight and turned toward her.
Before she knew what he intended, he pulledhis arm away from her and clasped the back of her head. He draggedher across the space separating them to claim her mouth in a kissthat stole her breath.
Her hands fell on his chest, and sheattempted to push away from him, but instead, her fingers curledinto his solid muscle. She leaned closer to him as their tonguesentwined.
The blaring of a horn pulled them apart.Nathan held her gaze, the heat in his eyes turning her insides toliquid before he turned away and drove on. Vicky slid back acrossthe bench seat and leaned against the door to put some distancebetween them.
She tried to control the trembling in herbody, but there was no control when it came to him.

Vicky stepped out of the small hall andinto, what she assumed, was once the living room of Nathan’s homein the old stronghold. She couldn’t see Nathan from here, but sheknew he was in the kitchen. Not only could she smell him, but she’dbecome acutely aware of his presence when he was near.
The wood floor cooled her bare feet as shecrossed the room to the kitchen. Nathan came into view when shestepped in front of the half wall dividing the two rooms. He stoodby the sink, his white-knuckled hands gripping the edge of thecounter as rain pelted the window in front of him. He’d used theother bathroom to shower while she did, and his damp black hairhung to the edge of the gray shirt he wore.
Vicky fidgeted with the edge of thebutton-up, black shirt he’d given her to wear, as Savage bloodcoated her clothes. She’d pulled on a pair of his sweatpants tooand cinched the string around her waist. The bottoms were rolled uparound her ankles so she wouldn’t trip over them.
A bolt of lightning lit the night beyond thewindow and reflected his image in the glass for a second. Thatsecond revealed the starkness of his features and the haunted lookin his stunning eyes.
Never in her life had she ached so badly togo to someone as she did him. His distress was palpable in the air,and an aura of barely restrained violence surrounded him. She couldhelp him feel better for a bit. However, in the mood he was in,Nathan wouldn’t be satisfied with her only giving him arelease.
No, he wouldn’t be satisfied until she’dgiven everything to him. But everything would bring about herdemise far faster than this half-assed game they’d been playing. She could ease this torment from him, but if she went to him, therewould be no turning back.
She tried to get her feet to retreat, butthey remained frozen aseveryone of her vampire instinctsrefused to leave her mate like this.
Then, she realized she’d rather know what itwas like to ride the storm of Nathan than never know. She’d ratheronly live another year without their bond being complete than liveanother hundred years and never experience what it was like to bewith the only man she’d ever loved.
Untying the band of the sweatpants, shetugged them off and tossed them aside. She started unbuttoning hershirt as she walked into the kitchen.
CHAPTER 41
Nathan turned toward Vicky when she walkedinto the kitchen. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to keep his handsfrom her, and not wanting to drive her away, he’d waited to seewhat she would do while he watched her in the window. He’d halfexpected her to flee from him, but he should have known hisVictoria didn’t back down from anything.
She stopped on the other side of the room, twenty feet away from him. The shirt hung open in a V that revealeda tempting amount of her round breasts and belly. Hanging almost toher knees, the black shirt was a tantalizing contrast to her goldenskin as she slid the last button free.
The sides of the shirt still covered herbreasts but revealed part of the trimmed, blonde triangle betweenher legs. Another bolt of lightning lit her emerald eyes as sherested her hands on her hips; the motion pushed back the sides ofthe shirt to expose more of her body. Nathan grit his teeth as hiscock swelled.
“Are you trying to torture me?” he bitout.
“I’m trying to please you.”
“Tonight, I wantallof you,Victoria.”
“I know.”
“No,” he said as he stepped away from thesink. “You don’t know. I want topossessyou until you’rebegging me to stop while pleading with me to continue. I want tocover every inch of you until I’m ingrained on your soul. I want tofuck you until you forget every other man and you never desireanother again. I want toruinyou for all others.”
