“I had no fucking clue.” I laugh because it’s so absurd. No one wants me. Other than Dallas and Clayton, apparently.

“You’ve always been clueless, and it’s kind of adorable.”

“Well, now I have Dallas, so I don’t have to worry about anyone flirting. He fucks me.”

“You know, I don’t think romance is all about just fucking. It’s like you’re taking care of the stalker. Dallas getting you the cupcake. Things to show each other you care.”

I blink up at her. “Then we’ve been in a romantic relationship for years.”

“Platonic queer relationship. I looked it up.”

“Oh, okay.” I bob my head. “You’re making everything weird.” I lick her cheek and pull away with her scowling at me.

“Ew.” She glares as she wipes my slobber off. “Anyway, how the fuck are we gonna sneak away to kidnap our victims with the guys around?”

“That’s a good question. We’ll think of something.” My phone buzzes and I pull it from my pocket. “Speak of the devil. Says they’re heading over.” Why the hell does my heart give a little pitter pat? I want to sigh and look at the text. No, I want to sigh and look at my man. I want him in my sights at all times.

“You got it so bad.”

“I know,” I whine and throw my head back before sinking deeper into the couch. “I don’t understand any of it, but he makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. And is dick is so damn good.”

Kendra throws a pillow at me. “I know his dick is good. You’re moaning on it all the time.”

I sign and lean on her again. There’s a knock at the door before Dallas and Hayden come in.

“Sorry, didn’t know if we should knock, or just walk right in.”

Kendra gives them a soft smile. “You’re welcome to just walk in.” She turns to me with a grin. “We were just discussing asking you to ride with us to Influencer Con, or were you planning on flying?”

DALLAS

I must look ridiculous when my mouth opens and closes like a fish. I just watched Kay kill someone via livestream. Did he remember he set Hayden and me up to receive the video feeds for our apartments? Anytime there’s movement, we’re supposed to get a notification.

Almost as soon as we left this morning, I got an email with a link to the livestream for Hayden’s apartment. Someone had broken in. Then I watched as they moved through Hayden’s apartment. I didn’t want to freak Hayden out if he didn’t also get the link, so I didn’t say anything to him or Braum. Or Kay.

No, instead I was engrossed in the video, especially when Kay showed up with a bat and a bag of supplies. I wish I could have heard the conversation. Wish I could have heard the person scream when Kay slammed his bat into their legs. Wish I could have heard the gun go off. I stopped watching when the cleaners showed up. Kay’s definitely not just a merfolk performer.

“Dallas?” Hayden knocks into my shoulder. “What do you say?”

“It’s a twelve hour drive.”

Kay tips his head. “Eh, a little bit longer than that. We’ll be taking our RV and hauling the tank.”

“You have an RV?” Hayden asks.

“With our faces on it,” Kendra says. She nods to Kay. “His idea.”

“I want people to know they’re in the presence of greatness whenever they see it.”

“Dallas?” Hayden knocks into me again.

“Yeah. That. That sounds good.” I can’t take my eyes off Kay.

He doesn’t know that I know what he did. What would he do if he knew I know? Will he kill me?

“Perfect,” Kendra says. “We’ll figure the deets out later. Kay and I have a job to do. We’ll be late, so don’t wait up.” She grabs his hand and they stand from the couch.
