“You don’t understand.”
“Well, fucking explain it to me then!”
Smith pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s a set-up by the CEG. They want to see you and make contact. It’s risky, but I’m on that recon team. I can get you time to talk to them.”
That made Cole snap his mouth shut.
This was what they’d wanted all along. And it was happening sooner than he’d thought it would. “I thought it’d be months before this happened.”
Smith shrugged. “Michael’s keen to get you trained and get you out there. Show the other packs that there’s nothing wrong. That the rumours about you aren’t true.”
I have no choice.
Aaron sighed, clearly as reluctant to do this as Cole, but at least he only had to watch.
With heavy footsteps and an even heavier heart, Cole motioned for Smith to move. “Let’s get this over with.”
