Silence.
“The rooms are soundproofed,” Aaron murmured. “They must already be inside one.”
Which was the last thing they wanted.
Getting into the room without those inside noticing would be virtually impossible. But they were here now, and besides, they were probably wanted for questioning by this point. There was no going back, no matter how risky the next part might be.
By silent agreement they crept along the corridor, feet making no sound as they made their way to the first door. It stood a couple of inches ajar, clearly empty.
The next was the same.
The third door was closed, but Logan knew before they got there that this was the one. Cole’s scent stood out amongst the others like a beacon, calling to him, and Logan closed his eyes, struggling to calm himself so he didn’t break the door down and rush in there.
He leant against the wall and faced Aaron. “They’re in there.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“I count six.”
Aaron nodded. “Me too.” Then he grimaced. “Simon’s in there.”
“Yep.”
As Michael’s beta, he was strong. Stronger than either Logan or Aaron. But at least Michael wasn’t in there yet.
“So we have Paul, Rich”—Logan counted them off on his fingers—“Smith, Simon, Cole, and I’m presuming the other scent was Nick.”
“That sounds a lot when you spell it out like that.” Aaron glanced at the door. “Do you think Smith will help?”
“I don’t know.”
Aaron squared his shoulders. “It doesn’t matter and we’re wasting time. Michael could be here any second.”
He was right.
“Fuck it.” He pulled Aaron into a fierce hug. “I love you. Don’t die.”
Aaron laughed. “Same. What’s the plan again?”
Logan pulled back and reached for the door. “Attack whatever fucker we get to first.”

Cole watched warily asRich and Smith dumped Nick into the chair and tied him to it. With his hands still handcuffed behind his back, he sat awkwardly leaning forward.
Will I be next?
Paul had made it clear he’d be questioned, but would it be in here? As a prisoner? Cole fidgeted, fighting his urge to flee, expecting someone to grab him any second.
The door banged open, slamming into the far wall and making Cole startle so badly he stumbled.
Simon strode in, taking in the scene in front of him with a cold calculating glare. His gaze found Cole, and he stopped. “You’re lucky you’re not strapped to a chair alongside him.” He walked closer until Cole practically choked on the arrogance and power seeping from him. “If it was up to me, you’d never have been given a second chance in the first place though. Michael’s going soft.”
Was Simon supposed to talk about his alpha like that?
Dismissing Cole, Simon walked over to Paul. “What happened?”
“Our second unit found them in a house three doors down from the decoy one. Three shifters inside. From their scents, two were Cox pack, the other Davidson.”
