“Wha…” Confused, he lowered it, turning on his stool to look at me. His eyes barely skimmed my face before lowering to my cleavage.

“Can I have a taste?” I tapped my nail against the glass of his bottle, my smile growing.

“Sure.” Reluctantly, he passed it over. I didn’t wipe the rim, I didn’t even hesitate as I closed my lips around it, my eyes never leaving his as I swallowed deep.

The bar was suddenly silent.

“Thank you.” With a smile, I gave the bottle back to him and turned back to the woman behind the bar. “I’ll have one of those, please.”

Purple hair frowned, her eyes darting from me to the man whose beer I had downed at least half of. “Sure, are you here looking for someone, love?”

I shrugged. “Maybe, right now I’m just here wanting to get a drink if that’s ok? I will see if I need anything else later.” Flashing a flirty smile at the man again, I thrust out my breasts a little more.

It was clear that Monster wasn’t there. If he had been, I was under no illusion that he would have made a scene by now.

“I’ll get her that drink,” the man rumbled, sliding his stool closer to mine. “And anything else she wants whilst she is here.”

“Hansel,” the woman behind the bar warned quietly. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to…”

My smile slipped. Yeah, she knew. There was no doubt in my mind that she knew.

“Gypsy,” he retorted, never taking his eyes from mine.

Under normal circumstances, I might have been interested, but the man in front of me was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He definitely wasn’t going to get lucky with me. I had bigger fish to catch than him.

“Get the lady her drink, Gypsy and then why don’t you go and give that man of yours a call. He shouldn’t be leaving you alone with us lot. You know how we all find you irresistible.”

Gypsy, which surely couldn’t be her real name, chewed on her bottom lip before nodding. “Sure, thing, I'll get you that drink now. You just shout if there’s anything else I can get for you. Sorry, I didn’t catch your name…”

I rolled my eyes, subtle. “I didn’t give it to you, Gypsy.” I shot her a glance, planting my hand firmly on the biker’s chest. “But I’m Angela.”

The silence was shattered when someone behind me swore loudly. They didn’t even attempt to keep their shock quiet. Chairs scraped back and I could hear the sound of the door opening and closing as someone left.

They might not have recognised me at first, but they knew my name. I had no doubt that one of those neanderthals was already on the phone to Monster and that was just what I wanted.

“Angela Monroe.” I held a slender arm across the bar and waited for her to shake my hand. She didn’t. She just stared at me. When she finally spoke, her voice was cold. The tone shocked me. I hadn’t expected someone who looked like her to be so venomous.

“I know who you are.”

“Well that’s good then, if you know who I am then you know who I am looking for.” I arched an eyebrow. “So, when is Monster going to arrive?”

MONSTER

Fang steppedout of the shelter of the dark doorway the moment I pulled my bike to a stop at the curb. His face was pensive. Yanking down the bandana from around my nose and chin, I made my way over to him.

“Where is she?”

Fang thrust a thumb over his shoulder, indicating that she was inside, but didn’t move out of my way so I could push through. Cyber had rung me, insistently until I had finally picked up his call fifty miles outside of town.

Four words were all he said. He didn’t need to elaborate.

“She’s at The Otter.”

And I knew instantly who he meant. But what the holy hell was she doing there and more importantly how had she found me?

“She’s inside but…”
