“It will hopefully be all over by the time you are back, Hansel.”

Chapter Fourteen

Gretal

“Is she ok?” I raised my eyes wearily as Gypsy came into the small living room. She flopped down on the chair nearest the window with a sigh, her fingers plucking to move the drapes away so she could look down at the dark street below.

“Yeah, she's alright. I gave her a mild sedative. She will hopefully sleep until morning.” She sighed again. “There's some…” She swallowed hard, and I could tell by her face that she was reliving her own attack. I had heard briefly what Gypsy had been through. And it had been horrific.

“There's some tearing and bruising. A condom was used so we don’t have to worry about pregnancy or sexual transmitted infections. Not that it makes it better, but at least she doesn’t have to worry about that.”

Yeah, I agreed with her silently. At least she didn’t have to worry about that.

“God, I need a drink.” Darcie was on her feet, her voice shaky.

“Yeah, a drink sounds good.” We all deserved one. And being above a bar we were in a perfect place for one. One or several.

“Help yourself.” Gypsy was back to looking out the window. There were a million different thoughts and emotions sweeping across her face.

“Whiskey for you, Gypsy?” Darcie headed towards the door.

“I won't be drinking. I'll keep Iris company with the soda instead.”

Iris had a reason why she wasn't drinking. She was still feeding her baby son. But Gypsy? In the few days I had been back with the Savage Sons, I had seen her chug whiskey with the men.

Iris straightened from her place next to me. “Something you want to tell us, Gypsy?”

“Not really.” She carried on looking out the window.

“Are you pregnant, Gypsy?”

My head snapped up at Darcie’s question.

“Oh my god, why didn’t you tell us? Why…?” Darcie was rushing across the room, sweeping Gypsy up into her arms. Iris brought up the other side until Gypsy was sandwiched between them. I didn’t understand their reaction but climbed to my feet anyway. Wrapping my arms around all of them.

“I only just found out,” Gypsy was sobbing. “I wanted to tell Fang first. We never thought it was going to happen. So, we have been going for tests and appointments…but then, well, I had just done a home test when I got Keeley’s call.”

“This is such good news, Gypsy. After everything that’s happened, we needed some good news.” Darcie was openly crying. They were all crying.

“I'm going to go and get everyone a soda.” It wasn’t that I felt left out, they were just closer because they were all friends. They had built a relationship between them over the last few years. I wasn’t close to them because I hadn’t been around. Maybe when this was all over and me and Hansel could talk properly about the future, then I would become real friends with them as well.

The thought shocked me; I was making plans for the future like getting back with Hansel was a done deal.

“You might as well ask our guard if he wants one as well.”

I froze. My eyes scanned the room like I had missed some hulking biker hiding in a corner. “Guard?”

“The one in the car on the street.” Gypsy nodded towards the window, taking a few steps back to peer down. We all followed her; our faces squished together as we looked down. There was a man in a car down there, but I couldn’t see his face.

“Maybe it's just someone waiting?” Even as she said the words, Iris shook her head, not believing them for a second.

“I know when someone is watching me. And he is watching.” Gypsy’s voice was matter of fact. “Do you think it’s the person who attacked Keeley?”

I hadn’t even thought about that, I had assumed we would be safe there. No one but Gio and his men knew where we had gone. Although I couldn’t guarantee that some of The Savage Sons might know now.

The person who had attacked Keeley, the scumbag she had known. There was a very real possibility that he rode with The Sons. That he was a patched member.

It hit me in a rush. The murders. The ones I had been asked to look into by Fang and Gio. They had suspected a member of The Savage Sons. They had suspected Hansel. I had waved away their suspicions. I knew Hansel. But then I knew all of the men who rode with them. I trusted them all, they were my friends, my family once upon a time.
