“It must be exhausting for Tommy, having to hide his true form just to get his dick wet.”
I barely heard them, sliding from the stool, I shot them both a glance and their eyes widened in shock.
Whoever they had thought was sitting next to them, it obviously wasn't me.
What they had said couldn't be true though. I couldn't bring myself to believe that Tommy had left me and come back here to hook up with another woman. But I had to see for myself.
Behind me someone called my name, I didn't turn.
I knew where Tommy's room was, and if he had a woman in there then I wanted to see for myself.
“Briella.” Raze's voice called out and I quickened my step. No wonder he had wanted to go and find Tommy himself. He must have known.
Five feet from the door, it opened and a woman walked out. Tall, leggy and wearing a skirt that barely covered her ass and a lacy bra. She stood there with a wide smile on her face. Her lips were shining and the moment she caught sight of me she licked them.
Pain ripped through me. It felt like someone was carving my heart out of my chest.
She had been his room. Dressed in next to nothing she had been in his room.
“Briella?”
My head snapped up; Tommy was there. A white towel tied low on his hips was the only clothing he had on, and his dark hair was still wet
“What are you doing here?” His eyes darted from me to the girl’s retreating back and the smile on his face disappeared. “This isn't what...” He took a step, his hand outstretched.
“It's ok. You don't have to explain. I shouldn't have come.” Wiping a single tear from my cheek I turned on my heel and walked away.
Keeping my back straight I didn't let any more tears fall until I had walked out of the compound.
It was only then that I realised Raze was behind me.
“Briella, give him a chance to explain.”
“He has nothing to explain.” I shuddered in the cold air. Wrapping my arms about me, I carried on walking. It was a good five miles between my apartment and the clubhouse and I had no way of getting home unless I walked. “I shouldn't have come.”
“He will want to see you. He always wants to see you”
“Well, I guess I'll see him when he’s not too busy then.” Another tear fell and I wiped it away angrily. I was a fool to think that a man like Tommy would ever be happy with a girl like me. Of course he would want someone more worldly. Someone who didn't think he was a monster.
“Briella, just stop. It's not safe out here tonight.” Raze caught my arm easily, pulling me around to face him. “If you won’t go back inside and hear him out then at least let me get you home.”
“You don't have to.”
“Wait here.” He held one finger up in front of his face before jogging away. A phone already to his ear. “She wants to go home, I'll get her there safely, Tommy. But you need to get this shit sorted.”
He was talking to Tommy. There was nothing Tommy could say that would make what I had just seen better.
Nothing at all.
Sobbing into my hand, I started walking again. The darkness eating me, which was just fine. Inside the darkness was eating me as well.
I wished I had never met Tommy, that he had never rescued me to begin with. It would have been less painful to stay with Acco. At least he didn't pretend to care.
Even being that monster's plaything for all eternity wouldn't have caused me this much pain.
