“You might want to wake her up.” Raze chuckled as we stepped through the portal and into some dark alley strewn with rubbish. “When I said you needed to get her under control, I didn't think for a second that you were gonna knock her out.”

Glancing down at Briella's sleeping form, I frowned. It wasn't like I wanted to do it. But what other choice did I have? If she had started kicking up a fuss, Acco would have grown even more suspicious.

My job was simple. Get Briella to safety. And not just because it was the job Leviathan had given me. If she was my mate, and it was the only reasonable possibility for the way she affected me, it was my only job now.

“I would rather get her back to the clubhouse,” I muttered. “Where it’s safe.”

I didn't like being out in the open. It felt too exposed somehow.

“And how do you expect to do that?” Raze growled, his grip on the bogget loosening enough for the much smaller man to slip out of his grasp and dart away. With a snarl, Raze started after him.

“Let him go, he has done what we needed him to do.” I knew the bogget would have to go into hiding. And fast, the same as we did.

I couldn't keep Briella out on the street. She needed the protection of the club.

“Tommy, how the hell do you expect her to get back to the clubhouse unconscious?” Raze asked again. “Are you going to tie her to your back or something?”

Truth was, I hadn't actually given it much thought. I had gone into that auction with no plan whatsoever. And somehow it had all worked out for the best. I had to believe that our getaway would as well.

Squinting my eyes against the rain that was pouring down, I stared at the dark corner the bogget Blue had just disappeared around. Racking my brain for a plan, any plan. Of course, I wanted Briella to wake up but I couldn't have her making a scene here either. Not the way she was dressed. The human police were a nuisance I didn't have time to handle right now. It would be safer all around if she came to the compound.

“Fuck.” I shifted her weight in my arms, gathering her up and pressing her more closely to my chest. My eyes drifted over her and the second they landed on her, I wished I had kept them on my vice president.

The rain had soaked her, making the already gauzy material of her slip of a dress lay perfectly transparent against her body, the sodden material perfectly outlining her round breasts. My mouth watered. Against my zipper, my cock jumped to attention.

What was wrong with me that I could be aroused at a time like that?

“You have no idea do you?”

“Absolutely none,” I admitted, blinking the rainwater from my eyes. “I just know I need to get her home and out of these wet clothes.”

Raze's eyes scanned her body, appreciation clear in his eyes. “I bet you do.”

The innuendo was clear in his voice.

“Don't fucking talk like that,” I ground out between my teeth. I hated the way he was looking at her. She was a beautiful woman, and completely on show for anyone who wanted to look, but she was mine, or at least I thought she was. There was no denying I was jealous.

“And stop fucking looking at her.”

“Brother…” Raze held up his hands, palms outward like he thought I would hit him. And I had to admit it was tempting. “I meant no disrespect.”

“I know it's just... Can you find us a car? A cab, or phone someone from the club to come and get us. I don’t think she’s in any fit state to ride even if she was awake.”

Raze nodded. “I’ll make some calls but you are going to need to cover her up before we get there. Otherwise, you are going to be smashing every brother who dares look in her direction.”

He had a point there.

“Hold her for a second.” I didn't want to let her go, not even for a second but I did need to cover her up. Gingerly he took her from me.

Sliding my cut from my shoulders I tugged the T-shirt I was wearing from my body. Slipping it over her head and settling it over her almost nudity. It kept her arms trapped against her sides but at least it covered her up from shoulder to knee. It offered some protection from the rain and any stray eyes.

He passed her back without me having to ask, and I sucked in a deep breath. Having her in someone else's arms had left me feeling off-kilter. Having her body in my arms made me instantly feel better. Less on edge.

“What?” I snapped as Raze continued to stare at me. I didn't understand why he was just standing there when he had a job to do.

“Tommy you know you can't keep her right? At the moment your hormones are ruling your head. Leviathan sent us after her. Which means he has a plan for her. You can't keep her,” he repeated.
