“Moms are silly.” Violet’s face went deadly serious for a second before breaking into yet another grin, a smile so bright it put the sun to shame. “Did I tell you that Uncle Monster and Uncle Fang bought me an ice cream and then had a fight?” She giggled. “A food fight. It was so much fun.” She clapped her hands excitedly.
Raising an eyebrow, I threw a look at Cyber. “Uncle Monster and Uncle Fang?”
He shrugged. “My fault. I called Monster it without thinking and before I knew it she was calling them both uncle.” He leant back, kicking out his long muscular legs. “Sorry.” He mouthed.
He wasn't even a little bit sorry, the grin on his face told me that much. Cyber was enjoying this.
“Well, I hope you got some ice cream before the silly boys started fighting.” I smoothed a strand of hair behind her ear where it had come loose.
“Cyber bought me another one, with two scoops.” The way she said it, the happiness in her voice, brought tears to my eyes.
“Cyber or Uncle Cyber?”
A tiny line appeared between her dark eyebrows. “He’s just Cyber, not uncle. Cyber says he's better than an uncle.”
I risked a look at Cyber’s smug face.
“Well, I am.” He tried and failed to look innocent. Just how much had he told her?
We would need to discuss boundaries soon, but not yet. I wanted to enjoy my reunion a little bit longer. Shaking my head, I turned back to my child.
My Violet who I had thought I would never see again. I hugged her again. She was yawning behind her hand.
“Are you sleepy, baby girl?”
She nodded and then changed her mind, shaking it furiously. “No.”
“Your nose is growing.” I tapped her nose gently with my finger. “Pinocchio.”
“Will you still be here if I go to sleep? You won't leave?”
“I'm not going anywhere, Violet. Not ever again. We can go to bed if you like. Cyber and your new uncles will be fine without us until the morning. Right, Cyber?”
“Right.”
Climbing to my feet, I lifted Violet into my arms. His eyes followed the movement.
“Sleep well.”

They looked peaceful.
Violet's tiny form was wrapped in Iris’ arms and they were both snoring softly. Both of their faces were slack, their breathing slow and even.
It made me smile to see them like that. When was the last time Iris had slept so soundly? Weeks I was guessing. Sure she had passed out in post-orgasmic bliss the day before, but I couldn't really count that.
Looking at her, I couldn't help but see the girl I had first met. The bright-eyed young woman who had just turned twenty-one. The woman who had taken my breath away. And she still took it away. She was the same person she had been back then. The shell was harder, but her heart and soul were still as beautiful as they had been back then.
Heart and soul? I blew out a breath, shaking my head softly. If any of my club brothers ever heard me say those words out loud they wouldn't let me hear the end of it. But I could think them because they were true. Iris was beautiful, but it had never been just her looks that had attracted me to her. It had been her. All of her.
Maybe Monster was right after all. Maybe I was in love with her. The thought should have scared me, but it didn't. All I felt was an overwhelming protectiveness towards both of them. Was this what Havoc had felt when he had met Darcie? Like many people in the club, I had thought his sudden infatuation with the curvy English girl was little more than a joke, but now? Now I kind of got it. Iris wasn't a stranger to me though, I knew her. Or I had known her, even if it was briefly. She wasn't the kind of woman you forgot easily.
And now she was back and had my child in tow.
What I felt for her couldn't compare to what Havoc had. His experience was all shiny and new. This was...different. Something about Iris was ingrained in my soul.
