“I mean it, Cyber. If Fang moves against her, and you don't...” She shook her head as Iris' face stiffened. She hadn’t been in her own world after all, she’d been listening.

“I have it under control Maggie.” Kissing her cheek, I went back to my seat. “When are you…?”

She cackled. “Trying to get Iris alone already I see. Havoc will be here any minute. There's food in the kitchen, all you need to do is reheat. You could even light some candles and make it romantic.”

“Maggie, stop.” Iris got to her feet, and we both watched her scowl at us. It was kind of cute how she tried to act coldly towards me around Maggie. Especially when only hours earlier I’d had my tongue in her mouth.

“Where are the candles?” I chuckled, and after a second Maggie joined in. Our laughter filled the air as Iris stormed out of the room.

“I wish you wouldn't tease me in front of Maggie.” Furiously, Iris went back to stirring whatever was in the bowl in her hands. She didn't turn to me, leaving me leaning heavily on the door frame with my arms crossed as I looked at her rigid back.

“You need to lighten up, Iris.” The moment the words left my mouth, I knew they were a mistake. She whirled at me, her face blazing with anger.

“I need to lighten up? Is this some kind of joke to you, Cyber?” The bowl in her hands flew, splattering what looked like cake mixture all over the floor and onto my jeans.

“This is my fucking life!”

For a second that seemed like an hour, we stared at each other, and then I moved without thinking.

I cared for her, I might even have been half in love with her, but those temper tantrums had to stop. Closing the distance between us in two easy strides, my hand closed around her throat before I knew what I was doing.

I pushed her back against the cabinets easily,

“You need to be careful who the fuck you throw things at, Iris.” My threat came out in a whisper and her eyes widened in fear. I fucking hated that I put it there, but I didn’t loosen my grip. “I get that this is your life. A life that you seem too fucking eager to throw away. I’m trying to help you.”

I was glad that Maggie wasn't there to see me. I was under no illusions that she would have beaten me until my life flashed before my eyes for touching and talking to Iris that way.

“Is this what you call helping?” she spat out.

Staring down at her I nodded.

“I'm not afraid of you, Cyber, you are a sm...”

I didn’t let her finish. Tightening my grip on her throat, I pressed my mouth to hers, pulling her bottom lip between my teeth and biting down on it. The copper tang of blood exploded on my tongue.

Hastily, I released her lip but not the grip on her throat. I hadn’t meant to make her bleed. I hadn’t meant to hurt her. I had just needed her to listen.

“I don't want you to be afraid of me, Iris. I'm doing this so you don't get hurt. Stop acting like a damn brat all the time. Everyone is trying to help you but you have to help yourself as well. It's time to stop being the victim and start fighting back.”

Iris

Pressingmy hand to the lip he had bitten, my fingertip came away spotted with blood. They were almost mesmerising, those tiny beads of red.

Cyber had made me bleed.

It should have made me furious. But it wasn't anger that was warming my body. It was something just as primal, but it wasn't anger, or fear.

Swinging my hand up, I caught him hard across the cheek, taking him by surprise. He caught my wrist easily, forcing it down to my side.

“Will you fucking stop it and listen…”

“I fucking hate you!” I clawed at him, my nails scraping down the hand that tightened around my throat. “I fucking hate...” As if my hand had a mind of its own, it gave up trying to get him to let go of me. Reaching up behind his head, I pulled his face down to mine.

What the hell was wrong with me? I wanted him. Even when he was manhandling me, my body craved more. I wanted that hand around my throat while he stripped me naked and explored every crevice. I didn't want him to be loving or gentle. I wanted… No, I NEEDED him to be the Cyber I remembered. The bad ass biker who took what he wanted, the one that had his fingers inside me within five minutes of saying hello.

I missed that Cyber.
