“It's done, Fang.” I straightened my shoulders “Drop it.”

“At least tell her how you feel, Cyber. Stop making the same mistake over and over. Take tonight, hold her in your arms.”

“Violet…”

“I am sure between all of us we can keep Violet amused for a few hours, Cyber. Iris might not know what's about to happen, but you do. And you need to say goodbye.” Fang closed his eyes. “Believe me, you need the chance to say goodbye.” The pain in his voice was so raw. Even after all those years. Would it be the same for Iris? Or would she move on? Find someone who deserved her? She had spent a lot longer hating me than liking me.

“Are you sure?” There was so much I wanted to tell her, and I couldn't say any of it in front of anyone else.

“Yeah, brother. I'm sure.”

Moving across the grass, I stepped up to Iris’ side, my hand reaching for hers. She glanced at me, her eyebrows knitting together as I kissed the back of her hand.

“Can I steal you away for a little while?”

Her eyes flicked back to our daughter who was sitting on Maggie's lap.

“She will be fine. There will be a small army here in about an hour.” I pulled her to my side. “I just need to talk to you.”

“Is everything ok?”

Smiling sadly, I pressed my lips to her hair. Her shampoo smelled like strawberries. Sweet like her. “Everything’s fine, baby,” I lied.

Closing the bedroom door softly behind me, I rested my head against it for a second. I didn't know how I was meant to do it. How do you say goodbye to someone who didn’t know what was happening?

“Cyber?” Her small hand stroked down my back. It was that slight touch that did it. Whirling about, I crushed her much smaller frame to mine with bruising force.

“Cyber, what's wrong?”

“I need you, Iris.” Roughly, I pulled the hem of her shirt up, baring her flat stomach to me. “I need you so fucking badly I feel like I’m dying.”

I expected her to pull away. I was being too rough with her. Then the memory of the other night zapped to life in my brain. Iris liked it a little rough. She craved me taking charge.

“I’m right here.” She held her arms above her head, and I tugged the white shirt over and off, throwing it into the corner. My own cut and shirt followed.

Her skin was feverishly hot against mine as we came together again. But, God, it felt good.

“I thought you wanted to talk?” She didn't pull away as I trailed kisses down her throat. Instead, she arched her back, baring more skin to me.

“Later. I need you first.”

“People are just downstairs, Cyber, it's…” She gave a startled scream as I gave her a little shove. She hit the middle of the mattress and bounced. Reaching out, I gripped each ankle and pulled her back down to the edge of the bed.

“You best be quiet then, baby.” Leaning over her, I snapped the button of her jeans open. My hands were almost shaking as I pulled the skin-tight denim down over her thighs.

“Cyber.”

Tossing them away to land with our other discarded clothing, I fell on top of her, pulling one slim leg up and over my hip so I could grind into her.

“Tell me to stop and I will.”

There were several heartbeats where she just looked at me. And it was like she was looking into my soul; I had never felt so exposed. I was sure she could read all my secrets.

“You would tell me if something was wrong, wouldn't you?”

“Yes, Iris. I would tell you.” I hated lying to her, but what other choice did I have?

“Then don’t stop.”
