What would I do if Fang decided to take her out? He was well within his rights to. If it came down to that, which side would I choose? I barely knew Iris, my loyalty should lie with my club, but... And it was a huge but, Iris was the mother of my child.

“Who is the target?” Fang’s long fingers steepled together. He was making a decision, and it was a decision on whether the woman I had always been crazy about would live or die.

“I don't know. You most probably. But it could be any of us,” I said warily. Fang was watching me like a hawk.

“I should kill her,” he said finally.

“You probably should,” I admitted, keeping my tone careful. Eyes glued to the scarred wood of the table in front of me, I waited for him to continue.

“Would that be ok with you?”

My eyes flicked to his face. What the hell kind of question was that? “No, it fucking wouldn’t,” I spat from between my clenched teeth.

“Would you stand with her or with-”

I cut him off. “I’ll do what’s fucking right; we don’t kill women and children, Fang.”

“No one’s killing the kid, Cyber, but I need to know where your loyalties lie if she moves against us.”

Climbing to my feet, I straightened my shoulders. “I'll do what needs doing, Fang.” And I would. I just wasn't sure what that would be yet. Could I take Iris out if it came to it?

I expected Fang to argue, to say something that would put someone else on Iris, but instead he nodded.

“She's your responsibility, Cyber. Stay close to her.”

“I thought you said I shouldn't touch her?”

It was his turn to shrug. “Do what you need to do. You can fuck the information from her for all I care, just make sure you find out what The Family is planning.”

I nodded, stalking out of the room without another word. They would keep talking. Fang would give orders that I was to be taken out as well if I sided with Iris, and I was ok with that.

What I wasn't ok with was the prospect of having to decide between them. That wasn't ok.

Heading towards my bike, I didn't let my eyes meet anyone else’s. I had too much to think about, and I needed to get on the road and back to Iris.

If the day came when I had to choose a side, I didn't know what I would do. So, all I could do was pray that day never came.

Pulling the bike up in front of Maggie's house an hour later, I slipped off my helmet, my eyes already scanning for Iris. I couldn't see her anywhere, so she was probably inside with the old woman herself, playing at being the good nurse, playing at...

I shook the thought away, Iris wasn't playing when it came to that. Whatever her plan was, she did care about Maggie. I had to believe that.

“She's in the kitchen.” Maggie's voice filtered down the stairs as I pushed open the front door. I didn’t even bother asking how she had known it was me, I had learnt long ago not to ask how Maggie knew things; she just did.

Mumbling a thanks that she probably didn't hear, I headed towards the kitchen. Coming to a stop in the doorway, I leant against it, watching the scene in front of me.

Iris had her back to me. Her silky caramel coloured hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She was moving her hips as she wiped down the sides. My eyes flicked down to her ass, perfectly on show in skin-tight jeans, and my cock jumped to attention against my zipper at the sight of her.

Without thinking, I moved forward. Sliding my arms around her waist, I pressed that round ass against my growing erection, as my lips found her ear.

“Hello, Iris.” It was an asshole thing to do to her, and she stiffened instantly. It was also exactly how I had said hello to her all those years ago.

She had relaxed against me back then. She didn't now.

“What are you doing?” There was no judgement in her voice

“Saying hello.” It took everything I had not to suck her ear lobe into my mouth, but somehow I managed it.

“Cyber, you need to stop this…”
