Chapter Nine

Gemma

He had proposed.

With his dick in my mouth, he had bloody proposed. Like I would take him seriously asking at such a moment. Not that I would take him seriously anyway.

It was much too soon for that. Even if we had been living together as friends for a year. It wasn’t like it had been anything but a platonic relationship.

We were growing closer, and I had feelings for him, but that didn’t mean we should run away and tie the knot. I had a sneaky suspicion it had more to do with the fact that all of his friends were settling down rather than him wanting to spend his life with me.

Glancing at him from beneath the curtain of my hair as I wiped down one of the dusty sides in what used to be his tattoo parlour, I studied his face. He was frowning down at something in his hands. Like the wad of crumpled up paper, he was holding held bad news.

“Everything ok?”

It seemed like an eternity until he smiled at me. A beautiful flash of white against the dark whiskers on his cheeks. “Yeah, everything is fine.” His dark eyes skirted away. It was pretty clear he was hiding something. And it was even clearer that it was something important.

“Gent.” Exasperated, I sighed.

“Gemma.” He sounded mocking as he reached up to pull me to my feet, his hand sliding along my lower back to pull me into the warmth of his body.

We had been cleaning for hours. Trying to get the shop ready to open on the weekend. And if I was honest, I was glad to be off of my knees and on my feet.

“You’re not telling me something.” Smiling, I looked up at him. I wasn’t sure how I hadn’t noticed how handsome he was before. Maybe not in a jaw-dropping way. But there was something about him. A steadiness under those dark good looks that I found really appealing.

“Am I?” His chuckle washed over me, causing something deep in the pit of my stomach to clench tight. “I can’t think of anything I need to tell you, not when you are looking at me like that.” His arms tightened around me, making my breath catch in my throat.

“Like what?”

“Like you want to do some really dirty things with me. I’ve not seen that look on your face before Gemma, but I know what it is.”

I didn’t even try to deny it. What would be the point?

“I think you're horny.”

Gent winked, and I couldn’t help it. I giggled. He was right. I was horny. But I was also nervous. I had a baby now. Things down there might not be what they used to be. I knew the rest of my body wasn’t.

Would he be disgusted by me? Would the sight of my naked body revolt him?

“I am horny,” I admitted. I couldn’t act like a nun forever. It was driving me just as insane as it was him.

Gent’s dark eyes widened. The hands that had been resting on my back slipped lower to cup my denim-clad ass. He yanked me forward, pushing his crotch into my stomach.

The smallest of moans tumbled from my lips. I wanted him, and he wanted me. That much was evident from the hardness pushing against me.

I’d had that hardness in my mouth. I had felt it throb and spasm as he coated my tongue with his release, but I couldn’t help wonder what it would feel like stretching other parts of me.

Reaching up, I tangled my fingers into his hair. Tugging his head down to mine. I put everything I had into that kiss.

“You sure?” Gent’s voice was husky.

I didn’t answer him. Instead, I found his mouth again, my tongue warring with his.

“Thank fuck for that.” Without warning, the hands that were cupping my ass lifted me, leaving me no choice but to wrap my legs around his waist. “Thank…”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt.” There was laughter in Ruin’s voice. “But there’s news on Young Blood. You’re both wanted.”

Gent moved his face away. But he didn’t drop me to my feet. Instead, he walked forward, with my body still wrapped around him. “Like hell, you didn’t mean to interrupt.” The hands on my ass kneaded relentlessly, sending small shock waves through my body.
