His eyes were dark, darker than his hair. Almost black. A gasp tumbled from my lips as our eyes met.

A slow smile spread across his scarred face and I scooted backwards an inch.

It wasn’t possible that he could have seen me from below, I knew that but at the same time, I knew he had.

Even as I watched he lent over the smaller man, and then both men glanced in my direction.

“Maybe you should call your daughter down and have her introduce herself properly,” Blond said loudly. “Or does she often spy from the shadows?”

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I stood just as my father called my name. I hated the wobble to his voice, the fear he couldn’t seem to hide.

Brushing the dust off my dress I took a few steadying breaths before taking that first step down. “Coming papa.”

Four pairs of eyes watched me as I descended. But it was the weight of the taller of the two guards that made me feel uncomfortable. My eyes lowered to my feet.

“Gentleman. Alpha Kaelen this is my daughter Bree.”

“She’s an omega?” The room was suddenly full of the sound of sniffing. As the three Alphas scented the air. “You are an Omega and unclaimed?” Blond sounded thoughtful.

“Yes sir.” I didn’t feel the need to lower my eyes and keep them pinned to my feet with him.

“I see.” Silence fell, as the five of us stood there awkwardly.

Peeking up beneath my lashes, again my eyes met Black bottomless ones. His eyes narrowed as my head lifted.

There was no way that the blond was the infamous Outlaw. He just wasn’t strong enough. I didn’t know why my father would think otherwise. It was pretty clear who the leader was here.

“It’s an honour to meet you Alpha Kaelan,” I said it softly, keeping my voice soft and gentle like a good little omega.

His smile widened. Something flickered to life in his dark eyes as he inclined his head. “The pleasure is mine.” Reaching for my hand, he bent his body over it. His lips pressed to the pale skin. They lingered a little too long, just a second or two but enough to make me feel uncomfortable again.

I had been right though. He was the Outlaw. The Alpha Kaelan. I didn’t know why he had someone pretend to be him but I knew he had.

I just didn’t know how I had known.

Chapter Two

Kaelan

It was almost sweet that she thought she could hide from me, more skilled people than her had tried in the past and they had all failed. The little Omega didn’t stand a chance.

Even if her scent hadn’t of hit me I would have known she was there, studying us from the darkness above our heads. I hadn’t forged myself an empire by not knowing exactly who was around me at all times.

Of course, I had seen pictures of her, grainy black and white images of her smiling and laughing at some function or another. But none of them prepared me for seeing her in the flesh.

And what flesh it was. Willowy and effortlessly chic in her simple, if somewhat dated dress. With her mass of curls falling over her shoulders. The clothes couldn’t hide her from me, I could picture what she looked like under them so easily.

She knew who I was as well. My usual little deception of having one of my guard’s stand-in for me hadn’t fooled her at all.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Alpha Kaelan.” She inclined her head slightly, but I could feel her eyes on me still. Staring from beneath her lashes.

The fact that she had recognised me, meant she had felt my power. It made her more interesting. I couldn’t deny that. But it was more than just interest I felt. She awakened something primal in me. The urge to protect and more importantly the urge to possess.

“The pleasure is mine.” Bending over her hand I brought it to my lips. My tongue sliding across her skin as her scent engulfed me. I lapped at her, I needed to taste more than just the hint of her unique omega smell. “Bree is it?” Finally, I lifted my lips from her skin, but I wasn’t sated. I wanted, no I needed to get a closer look.

Every atom of my being wanted to bury my head into the crook of her slender neck and let her hair fall across my cheek.

“The name doesn’t suit you.” My voice came out harsher than I had wanted it to. Bree’s heartshaped face fell.
