I swallowed hard around the lump in my throat. “And if I am no longer pure?” I hated the way my voice wobbled.
Any kindness in his eyes faded away to nothing. Like it had never been there in the first place. “If you have whored yourself to my enemy then I will have no choice but to treat you like one. Maybe he will come for you.” He shrugged as he stepped away. “Or maybe he won’t. It will all depend now on what the doctor has to say.”
I had been expecting a male. But it was a woman who stepped forward. Her long dark hair tied back severely from her face. It made her look hard.
“Maybe I will make him watch me take you….” one last touch. A gentle touch that didn’t match the venom in his voice. “Now be a good girl and don’t fight the doctor. I will give you ladies some privacy for the examination.” His eyes fell on the smaller beta woman. And she was a beta. She was too plain to be anything else. “I want to know the results of your examination as soon as you have them. The scent of estrus is already making it hard to concentrate.”
If I had thought that because she was another woman that she would show me some kindness I was sadly mistaken.
The moment the door closed behind The Monk, she turned her cold eyes on me, cruel fingers dug into the flesh of my parted thighs. Her nails scraping into my skin.
“You smell like a whore.” Her words were bitter. But it sounded more like she was talking to herself than to me. “Another man’s seed on your body and still he wants you.” Roughly my underwear was ripped off. “What is it about you that makes you better than me?”
I wanted to tell her that there was nothing but genetics that made us different. The Monk didn't want me because I was a woman. He didn't care for me. He wanted me because I was an omega from a good family.
But I didn't get to say anything at all as she parted my legs further, her fingers probing mercilessly. I let a garbled scream. Fighting against my bonds as she pushed her fingers into me.

There was nothing but pain. It swirled around me like a red hot shroud. The pain didn't ease even as the hours slipped by. It was like a red hot poker between my legs.
Dimly I was aware of people talking about me, but I couldn't seem to bring myself around enough to concentrate. I let someone wash and dress me in simple white robes and pull my hair back from my face.
But the only thing I could feel was the pain. And my estrus was coming as well. The cramps had already started. The ripping agony that made my breath catch in my throat.
I had no idea what the doctor had told The Monk. Would she have lied? Or would she have told him the truth? Either way, I knew I wouldn't have long to find out.
“Come and sit at my feet, Bree?”
Numbly I stumbled over to where the Monk was sat. His chair almost totally surrounded by scantily dressed women.
I didn't have a chance to be disgusted at their provocative dress though, I was in too much pain to do anything but sink on to the concrete floor. It felt cold against my feverish skin. It felt like I was on fire from the inside. More painful than any estrus I had ever felt before.
I was so wrapped up in my own agony that I didn’t even realise that another man had stepped into the room.
The Monk and The Outlaw were talking about me. Discussing me like I was some kind of toy that they could argue about.
“Kaelan.” I don’t know what made me say his name but his eyes locked on me instantly. “Please.” I didn’t know what I was begging for but he was there in an instant. Falling to his knees on the hard floor.
The smell of his skin enveloped me. Easing some of the pain. But it wasn’t enough. Crying out I reached for him. Grabbing at his suit jacket with hands that looked more claw-like.
“I am here.” Kaelan’s hands were gentle as he gathered me up, but his touch was agony. My skin felt like it was on fire. “What the hell have you done to her?”
I knew he wasn’t talking to me but I shied away from him like he had slapped my face. “Help me,” my voice was nothing but a croaky whisper. “Please help me.”
Chapter Six
Kaelan
The Monk could go to hell if he thought for one minute that I was going to leave Bree with him. He could bluster all he wanted. He could threaten war. None of that mattered.
One look at Bree’s ashen face and I knew she needed medical attention. How I hadn’t noticed it before I don’t know. But now I had actually looked at her it was clear.
“What the hell have you done to her?” Gathering her spasming body into my arms. I cradled her like a baby.
For a second he looked taken aback. “Nothing. She went through a basic examination.” He trailed off and my eyes followed his as they drifted down her body. There was blood on her stupid omega robes. Not a huge amount but it was there. Between her thighs.
I roared, shifting Bree’s weight into one arm easily I pulled the weapon from beneath my arm. Pointing it at his stupid head. “What the fuck have you done to her?” I growled it at him. My body was vibrating with anger but my hand was as steady as a rock.
