“It’s going to be ok.” I forced her tense body back against mine. And this time when I touched her it was higher up, using her arousal I coated her clit with it, rubbing the pad of my thumb over the swollen little nub.
It would ease her discomfort for the time being, but it wouldn’t last long. Her Estrus was too strong and it would only get worse as the days went by. I would have to find some way of satisfying her needs without entering her body.
Somehow.
“Outlaw.” Her head thrashed back and forth against me, her hips bucking furiously and still I pressed down on her. “Outlaw no… “ her nails clawed at my hand but she didn’t try and rip my hand away from her. Instead, she pressed it into her more firmly.
“Kaelan,” I growled it into her ear, my teeth grazing against her skin. “My name is Kaelan.” I didn’t want to be Outlaw to her or even Alpha Kaelan. I just wanted to be Kaelan. The man, not the crime boss. Not the alpha.
“Alpha..” Her scream pierced my eardrums it was so loud. Her back arched and her legs quivered as her release took over her body.
“Kaelan,” I repeated softly when she finally flopped back against me. Even as I watched her lashes fluttered against her cheek.
It made me smile, that contented look on her face. For now, at least she was sated. Tightening my arms around her I pressed a kiss to her hair.
It was a strange thing, I knew she was my mate. The omega for me and I had never even kissed her lips.
Still, I had the rest of my life to kiss my way down her body and explore her.
“Call me Kaelan.”
Sleepily she shook her head. “Not my mate… don’t want….”
Smiling down at her I stood, keeping her tight against my chest as I headed out of the medical wing and towards my rooms.
She would sleep for a while now, and I wanted her to sleep in my bed so she would have what she needed to nest when she woke up.
It would give me a chance to exact my vengeance against those that had hurt her. And what a vengeance it would be.
I would rain down pain and blood on every single person who had ever hurt her.
“We shall see.” And we would see, before the sunset one more time Bree would know exactly how far I would go to protect her.

Zane lifted his eyes from his plate when I entered, his nostrils flaring. I knew what he could smell, my mates slick still coated me. It might be drying but it was still there. I just couldn’t seem to bring myself to wash and change. Not yet at any rate. I knew I would have to soon but for the moment I wanted to fill my lungs with every breath I took.
A small reminder that I had a mate laying in my bed when I finally got back. A beautiful woman who would learn to love me.
“I didn’t expect to see you for the next few days at least.” There was a troubled look in his eyes. One that seemed to be on his face more and more. Sometimes he tried to hide it but when you had known someone as long as I had known Zane it was easy to pick up on it. He was a warped man, and as dangerous as an alpha could be. But he would never be able to lead. Whatever had happened to him before I had found him wandering the streets had broken his mind. He was unpredictably dangerous. More a guard dog than a commander.
“She is asleep.” Wearily I folded my body into one of the chairs. I had hated leaving her. No man should have to leave his mate in estrus. It was like a physical pain. But nothing was worse than encircling her wrist with cold metal.
I knew that she would have to be shackled, to stop her from hurting herself or worse wandering off in search of an alpha to sate her needs. An alpha who would not care that she was healing. But I hated having to do it. And I hated the doctor for putting those handcuffs there, even if I understood the reason why he did.
“You stink of her.”
My head snapped upwards. The way he said it, the plain disgust on his face, it all made me wary.
Something must have shown on my face because he back-peddled fast. “I just mean I can smell her on you. It makes it hard to concentrate knowing she is upstairs and in heat. It’s …”
Yeah, I understood that. I knew it was going to be hard for the alphas under me to concentrate which was why I had already told everyone but the doctor and his Beta wife to leave.
The only alphas under my roof we’re in this room.
“Are you going to be able to control yourself?” My voice came out even as my hands shook. He was right I could smell her everywhere. It was like she was right next to me, her sweet body draped over mine.
For a second our eyes locked. Neither of us saying a word. It was Zane that broke that silence. “What do you need from me?”
