Gems lips quirked again. “Cali?”

“Don’t play dumb with me Gem, why isn’t she here?” I had been looking forward to spending some time with her. After the day I had, it had been something I needed.

Not to mention if she, had stood me up, it would be like a kick in the nuts. I didn’t get stood up.

It didn’t mean I wouldn’t go and get her though, I had warned her I would if she didn’t show up.

Gemma’s eyes lifted, but instead of looking at me, her eyes settled on something over my shoulder. The smile that had been trying to grow blossomed into a full-on grin.

Someone behind me whistled.

“She is here Truth.” Gemma’s chin tilted, and I turned to follow her gaze.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

The reasons for the wolf whistles became clear the moment I spotted her standing in the doorway.

“Don’t fucking hurt her.”

I barely acknowledged Gems words as I stood. How was it possible Cali looked even hotter now than she had the first time I had seen her?

The leather mini skirt was the first thing that caught my attention, but as soon as it did, I couldn’t drag my eyes away from the long lines of her tanned legs. All the way down to the studded black ankle boots and back up again.

I was standing there like an idiot. No doubt with my tongue hanging out like a horny dog.

“Hi.” Easily she slipped up to me, her smile was genuine. “Sorry, I’m late. I didn’t know what to wear.” She gave a girlish giggle.

My mouth opened and shut again. What the hell could I say to that? She looked fucking perfect. So I didn’t mind the wait at all.

“You look amazing.”

“Thanks.” She shrugged herself out of the black jacket she had on, and I reached for it instinctively. “You look nice as well.”

Frowning I glanced down at myself. I hadn’t changed since this morning.

“I like your T-shirt.” I let my fingers tug at the hem, pulling it tightly against her, so her breasts were perfectly outlined under the thin material.

“I thought it was funny.”

Letting my eyes dart downward, I read the writing on the dark grey material and bit back a laugh.

Looks like a beauty.

Rides like a beast.

“Fuck woman.” I pulled her flush against my front. “I am going to hold you to that.” Roughly I brushed my thumb against her lips.

I was going to kiss her. I wasn’t even sure why I had put it off for so long. It wasn’t like me to be nervous.

Her lips were soft, slightly sticky and tasted of peaches.

It was only a soft peck, but it was enough. I had sent a clear message to every single man in this place that she was off-limits. And I was about to send another, even clearer one.

Lifting her up onto the barstool, I placed my cut over the back of the chair. It might have been my imagination, but I was pretty sure the bar quietened a little.

I hadn’t put it on her, but there could be no denying the message I had just given.

Cali was mine.
