Her topaz eyes are filled with so much love andunfiltered joy, it makes my chest ache. This woman who, when I first met her, was so closed off to connection, so lost in her work, she didn’t know what it was like to live, now craved those things. She’s the one planning our next holiday before I can even get to it. She was brave enough to leave behind a life that no longer suited her, reshaping her entire career so she could focus on the parts she loved and leave behind the others. She was still the CEO and head designer of Jaded, but all the other tasks she loathed but felt obligated to do were delegated to other people. She was still active online, but only when she wanted to be. She took control of her life instead of letting others choose for her. I was in constant awe, and I still can’t believe I get to call her mine. “I won long before today, Hellfire.”
Her gaze softens. “I think becoming an Olympian has made you soft.” She jolts forward, kissing the tattoo now inked to the other side of my neck.Everlasting, it reads.
“You know what I think?”
“Hmmm?”
“When the business slows down for you a little, I’m going to make you my wife.”
“Is that so?”
I brush the tip of my nose against hers before softly pressing my lips to her mouth.
“Mhmm,” I hum in pure contentment. “I think I’d like you bossing me around forever.”
