Blythe’s face dropped. “I was hoping to shoot a few dyke versus femme videos tonight. Followers have been asking for more. It’s been a week since I posted any. And I know they’re your favorites.” Blythe tried to keep the whine from her voice.

“They are.” Ricki smiled. “I think they’re the funniest ones you’ve done. Although dancing into the bush was a stroke of comedic genius.”

Blythe smiled, happy to have Ricki back on board. “I’m thinking I should expand to more physical comedy, seeing all the positive reactions.”

Ricki groaned. “Does that mean you’re going to have me chasing you all over, filming?”

“Don’t blame me.” Blythe pointed. “It was your idea to have me jump into the bush.”

“Don’t remind me.” Ricki’s lids were heavy when she met Blythe’s gaze. “Can we film tomorrow night? I promise I’ll be all yours no matter how tired I am.”

Blythe let out a heavy sigh, showing her disappointment before she said, “Okay. Tomorrow night. It’s a date.”

“Maybe we can shoot a few weeks worth, just in case my job stays so heated.”

“That’s what I thought. I’ve got several scripts ready to go.”

“That’s settled then. Back to Abby. Read me what you’ve written so far.”

“I haven’t.”

“What?” Ricki scowled. “You’ve had all day, and you’ve not written anything?”

“I was working, too.” Blythe put offense in her tone, so Ricki would back off.

While Blythe had done a few DoorDash runs, she’d cut her day short after new ideas for content pinged in her mind. Nobody could blame her. When creativity struck, she needed to jump on it. She’d written scripts for a dozen dyke versus femme posts, so it wasn’t like she’d not been working.

Soon, this would be her full-time job. She felt it in her bones. As long as she kept her eye on the prize.

“You’re right.” Ricki yawned. “Read me what she wrote to you.”

“It was adorable.”

Hi! Sorry that it took me so long to respond. I mean, I’ve never replied to anyone who sent me a PM before. Oh, god, or is it a DM? I can never remember which is the cool thing to say. Ugh. Cool probably isn’t the right word, either.

“Isn’t that the cutest, geekiest response ever?” Blythe said before she continued reading.

Let me just start over before I erase this whole thing and give up. I saw your video outside the library. My friend Madeline and I watched it multiple times and laughed and laughed. You’re funny.

I was shocked that such a huge creator reached out to me.

Blythe looked at Ricki. “Did you hear that? Huge creator.”

Ricki rolled her eyes toward the ceiling.

At first, I thought it might be a fake account, but my friend convinced me it’s really you. As you probably guessed, I never planned on anyone watching my videos, except for a few friends, so I don’t exactly know how to react to any of this.

Maybe you can help me figure it all out. One of my friends connected me with her sister, who’s a creator. Perhaps you’ve heard of her. She goes by @X-Marks_The_Spot.

“Jesus,” Blythe said. “I don’t think she has any idea that X is one of the biggest Gen X influencers out there. She’s been nominated for a Streamy and a Webby Award.”

Ricki’s expression showed that she knew as much as Abby when it came to top influencers.

“You have no idea what the Streamy and Webby are, do you?”

“Nope, but they sound kinda ridiculous. Who came up with the names, teenage boys?”

Blythe frowned but didn’t justify Ricki’s snark with a response.
