“Oh, fuck,” I whimpered, then it turned into a moan as pleasure so good it should be illegal, ran through me, my body so sensitive it was a mix of pleasure and pain. Fuck, I was apparently a pain slut, because I loved every second.
“You took my knot so perfectly,” he purred. Then a purring vibration seemed to take over his entire body as he lapped at my mark, humming with satisfaction. I felt boneless under his weight. My body was wrung out and sated like never before. Best of all, I could feel Jeremy, too, his happiness, his contentment.
It was all I needed to drift off, feeling safer and happier than ever.
“Stop that,” Nic ordered firmly, his tone serious but also a tad exasperated.
My brain was slowly waking up, as was the soreness of my entire body. Oh, the memories came flooding back, making my eyes snap open.
Jeremy was growling beside me, glaring at Nic who stood confidently and stared my mate down. I was smooshed against the couch and Jeremy, a blanket thankfully covering our naked bodies from Nic’s gaze.
Nic rolled his eyes. “He’s fine, relax.”
Clearing my throat, I asked. “Um, what is happening?”
Nic sent a warm smile my way. “Jeremy sent off strong ‘stay the fuck away from me’ vibes while he was shifted, so I knew he was about to claim you. I came over to make sure you would be fine after said claiming, but Jeremy is still too riled up from the mating to let me any closer.”
“Jeremy,” I admonished. “He’s just trying to help.”
Jeremy’s eyes met mine and I felt and saw sadness in them, also…guilt?
“I’m sorry,” he whispered.
“For what?” I somehow knew it wasn’t about him growling at Nic.
“For claiming you like that. Hell, Cass, you’re hurt and there I was, claiming you like an animal.”
Before I could protest, Nic piped in from the doorway. “Actually, your wolf wouldn’t have claimed him if he wasn’t ready for it. It seems your wolf knew the exact moment Cass was well enough to be mated to you.”
I slapped Jeremy’s chest. “I told you muffins heal the soul!”
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Jeremy
Cass seemed done with my moping and apologizing. The muffin that had hit me perfectly square in the face was my biggest clue. It looked sad where it lay on the kitchen floor, the muffin now a crumbled mess.
Sighing, I scooped it up and dumped it in the trash.
“I’m—”
“If you say you’re sorry again I’ll throw something heavier at you,” Cass threatened.
Holding up both hands, I was about to do just that, but his eyes squinted in a glare, making me snap my mouth shut.
“You’re right,” I agreed, letting out another sigh. “I just promised myself I would take good care of you—”
“And that, you did,” Cass interrupted me, his smile knowing. “Really well if I recall.”
That last part was purred and it awakened something inside of me, something only Cass could bring out.
“Oh,” I said, smirking right back. “Is that right?”
He nodded. “Hmm. Want to show me? Just in case I missed something? You know from the hard pounding you gave me?” He blinked innocently while fluttering his lashes.
Biting my bottom lip, I was about to say ‘hell, yes’and pounce on him, but Dad seemed to know just when to show up.
Three loud knocks on the back door were enough for him, it seemed, since he simply opened the backdoor and slid in, not caring if we were decent for company or not.
