I just sit back, laughing, soaking it all in, enjoying being a part of it.
And yeah, maybe a small part of me wants to lock this down, to make it official before anything has a chance to change.
But that’s not why.
I look out at the field, catching Eli mid-play, his focus locked in, enjoying baseball again.
Then I glance at Miller and find that he’s watching me.
He’s not paying attention to his brothers, sister, or sister-in-law making fun of him.
He’s not focused on the woman that saidhi to him in the parking lot or the women three aisles down pointing at him.
I’m not moving the date because I’m afraid of losing him.
I’m doing it because I’m ready.
I’m ready for this life with him and Eli to start now and last forever.
