“Shrieking?” Faust scoffed. “I have a beautiful voice, thank you very much—”

In my impatience to shut him up, I kissed Sagitta. He made a soft sound of surprise before kissing me back. His lips were unbelievably soft first thing in the morning, just like the rest of him. I was getting a little too used to him sleeping in my bed.

When we broke apart, Sagitta was breathless. “Not that I’m complaining, but what was that for?” he asked.

I smirked. “It makes Faust shut up.”

Sagitta’s dark eyes glinted. “I see. It’s too bad we can’t kiss and fuck every second of the day. I’m sure that would make him evacuate your body for good.”

The casual way he said such filthy things made me shudder. My cock jerked to life.

“Yeah,” I agreed, my voice catching with lust. “Too bad.”

We held charged eye contact for a few seconds before I ducked beneath the covers and went down on him.

After our shower, Sagitta towelled off his wet hair. “That reminds me. As much as I’d love it, I’m not sure a private blowjob star is the best career path for you.”

I snorted as I pulled on a fresh pair of boxers. “You sure? I’ve got the skills, and you’ve apparently got the money.”

Sagitta huffed. “Don’t make it sound like I pay you for sex. It’s only hot in the moment. We have sex because I like you, and...” His cheeks tinged pink. “And—well, I assume you like me, too.”

I stared at him. He was naked from the waist up, so my eyes were free to roam.

“Obviously,” I said. But Cygnet’s comment nagged me. “Um. I have a stupid question.”

Sagitta undid the towel around his waist and placed it back on the hooks to dry. “Hm?”

It was more difficult to talk while his bare ass was on display. I swallowed past the anxious lump in my throat.

“What if... Faust gets exorcised, right?” I began.

Sagitta put his socks on. They were black and pristine, no frayed threads or holes anywhere. “Yes.”

I went on. “So, like, after he’s gone and we know I’m not possessed anymore.”

“Yes.” He shimmied into his briefs.

I hesitated when he stopped to shoot me a curious look, since I could barely get a fucking thought out.

“Sorry. This is really hard when you’re doing a reverse striptease in front of me,” I admitted.

He snorted playfully. “You’re getting aroused because I’m putting my clotheson?”

“I can’t help it. You’re too hot.”

He smiled, his gaze warm. “Why don’t you turn around while I keep getting dressed? I’m listening.”

God, I was dumb. I turned around and faced the unsexy bathroom wall.

“Okay,” I said, less flustered now. “So, after I’m free of demons, what happens if... if you don’t like me anymore?”

The silence that followed filled me with dread. I almost peeked over my shoulder from morbid curiosity.

“What are you talking about?” Sagitta asked, sounding more confused than anything else. “Why would that even happen?”

My shoulders slumped. Just thinking about a life without Sagitta drained me. It was terrifying to imagine all the wonderful new things in my life could be stripped away in the blink of an eye.

“Because... when I talked to Cygnet, he said you were being manipulated by Faust’s influence,” I mumbled. “He basically said whatever relationship we have isn’t real. When I’m not possessed, you might not care about me anymore.”
