I narrow my eyes. But then, right on time, Seth appears and offers me a microphone and the box I asked him to hold earlier. I tap the microphone to make sure it’s working, then speak into it.

“Cami, could you join me?” I squint against the lights, scanning the room for her. Finally, I see her hurrying toward me, a confused furrow on her brow.

“What are you doing?” she hisses as she reaches me.

In answer, I drop onto one knee. Bursts of color bloom on her cheeks.

“Camile Hayes, you are the most talented, loving, wonderful woman I know, and I’m proud to call you mine. These past few months have been the happiest of my life. I love watching you spread your wings. You make me a better man.” I glance out at our audience, who seem to be waiting with bated breath. “My love for you isn’t quiet; it rages like a storm and I want everyone to know how incredible you are. Will you marry me?”

“Yes.” She grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet, then wraps her arms around me so tightly I can feel her entire body tremble. “I love you.”

I hold her close, ignoring the fact I’m sweaty. As long as she doesn’t mind, I don’t either. When she draws back, I offer her the ring box. She gasps when she sets eyes on the funky diamond ring Lena helped me choose.

“It’s perfect.” She slots it onto her finger. Primal satisfaction swells within me at the sight, but I resist the urge to beat on my chest. The roar of applause almost deafens me.

I thread my fingers through Camile’s and kiss the back of her hand. “It’s you and me now, baby. There’s no getting rid of me.”

She smiles in a way that touches every hidden corner of my heart. “As if I’d want to. You’re my smitten kitten, and I’ll never forget it.”

I sigh. She’ll never let go of that moniker. But as long as we’re together, she can call me whatever the hell she wants. “Come on, fiancé. What say we get out of here?”

Hands joined, we leave the cage, heading toward our future, and it’s so damn bright.
