“Could you get the bread from the box?” Rowan said.

Briar had been looking at some of the photos people had taken of them from the wedding. He opened the breadbox and froze. Inside was a golden envelope. He pulled it out, looking at Rowan accusingly. “What is this?”

“A wedding gift.”

“We promised we wouldn’t! We have enough gifts from everyone anyway—”

He shrugged. “I cheated. It’s for the both of us.”

Briar glared.

“Open it.”

He relented, sliding a finger through the seal. Inside were two tickets. He fanned them in his hands, a firework of bliss in his chest.

“A honeymoon in Pentawynn?”

Rowan was watching him, his brows raised in uncertainty. “Is it… too soon?”

Briar had told Rowan of what little he’d seen. He’d talked about the beauty of the skyline from the water, the mix of people thronging through the streets, the lights and crystal spires, all the things he’d only seen for a single carriage ride spent feeling sorry for himself and wishing Rowan were there.

“Marry me,” he blurted.

Rowan’s uncertainty melted. “But we’re already married.”

Briar flung his arms around Rowan’s neck, kissing every inch of his face. “Again,” he said. “Marry meagain.”

Warm brown eyes shone and fluttered closed.

“As many times as you like.”
