Seda heard him scream for her to stop and saw him rushtoward her, ripping off his mask and revealing wild eyes with fear etched into his features.
But it was too late. She had made her decision.
With the mighty moon’s ancient strength, a bright purple light erupted around her, forming a vast, magical dome above that instantly killed all the demonic beasts created by Supay within. Only those remaining within were blessed by the Mother Goddess.
Kalon ran to her side and clutched her to his chest.
“Why,” she heard his muted voice ask. “I cannot live this life without you, and I don’t have wishes I can seek. Please, please… don’t leave me. You are my light, Seda. Please don’t leave me.”
But she did, and it was a mistake she would regret.
She whispered a final plea as her eyes fluttered closed, “Save the children.”
She knew she would someday return; she knew she had one life to give, for her stone was still within.
But she didn’t expect the evil of the world to lurk and intensify while she was away, and she didn’t expect to return to a shattered world, tilted on its axis. She also didn’t expect to be reborn with no memories.
But most importantly, she never anticipated that Supay would rise again.
Epilogue
Supay
It had been over a thousand years since his soul was placed inside that weak, mortal body. A body that tried to fight with Supay’s consciousness time and time again. The mortal repeatedly used Supay’s ancient magic against him by gaining entry into the Royal Alcove, aiming to sever the connection of the darkness’s caress. But, to Supay’s delight, none of the scrolls that he had examined described the dark power needed.
Meir’s time was over, and Supay would never allow himself to be cast aside again.
The foolish Corvid man before him handed him the stone, and he felt his magic resurge with a vengeance, shedding the skin he wore into who he was before. Meir’s pathetic, lifeless body collapsed to the ground, revealing his true demonic self underneath. The seven-foot, muscular figure with cadmium-colored skin and hair, matching coiled horns, and solid black eyes took form. The ecrushredded robes he wore a millennium ago wrappedaround him, exposing his broad chest and comforting him within a blanket of destruction.
He had spent far too long failing with Meir’s pathetic body, working his way through the ranks of Fae royalty, and luring the old king to marry a Dark Witch in an attempt to collect the stones.
But Supay had finally returned, and his dark magic swarmed like ripples of oil suspended in the air, igniting into flames around him and expelling black moths of death from the ash.
As he stood high on the cliffside, gazing down at the distant city he had pretended was his home for too long, he smiled broadly, relishing the loud cheer that erupted at his divine transformation.
He raised his flame-charred fist in the air, holding the stone as his barbed tail swung around him, and laughed loudly for all to hear. He kicked the dead body over the edge, loving how the deepness of his voice echoed from his godly chest across the land, causing the floating green orbs to quake in his wake.
Those stupid, fucking orbs. His death moths would eventually consume them all.
“Our Dark God has returned!” Neoma screamed from his side down to those before them. “He’s no longer Meir, advisor of Umbrea, but is our Deathly Sovereign!Bow before your god!”
The Dark Witch had helped him get to where he was, pretending to be a Fae lord’s daughter. He had promised to make her a queen, and if he was good for anything, it was keeping his word to those who remained loyal to him.
Besides, she felt too good to throw away, and he couldn’t wait to experience her in his real form.
His vast army of faithful Jotnar, Dragors, newly appointed Lycanthropes, and returning Dark Witches before him bowed and chanted his name. Their cheers shook the ground beneath them. The loudest came from the Lycanthropes, who believed the sun had returned in his honor—the fucking simpletons and their ignorance.
Supay, Supay, Supay.
He inhaled the praise exploding below him and looked once more toward the tall emerald towers of Umbrea, the wicked grin spreading wider across his sinister face, revealing the fangs meant to suck the life out of anyone who stood in his way.
This realm was going to be the first to belong tohim.
Once, long ago, he solely ruled the underworld, but that title alone was never enough. Supay was resolute to finish what he began years ago—eliminating his counterpart from the divine realm. The Mother Goddess’s reign over both the heavens and the earthly realms would finally come to an end.
Only he alone would remain, forged from corrupted divinity itself, wielding absolute power and dominion.
From the ashes of destruction, Supay was destined to enslave all creation to his will.
And this time, the world would know what it meant to be powerless against him.
