"What are you thinking about?" Beau asks, taking a sip.

"Everything," I answer, and I can’t help smiling when the morning light hits his face. I don't know if it's because we've been physically intimate or some other reason, but it's like a mask has been peeled away, and I'm seeing more of the old Beau now. Pretty soon, I hope to have a psychic connection to his eyes again.

He takes another sip of his coffee, his warm, brown eyes not leaving me. "Everything, huh?"

I smile and breathe in that after-rain smell—wet leaves, cool air, and a hint of woodsmoke from somewhere down the street. "I want us to be how we were before, you know? Beau and Rein."

He gives me a small, unreadable smile then looks away, his head turning up toward the partly sunny, partly cloudy sky. "I don't think it's good to go back. I think we should move forward."

"Well, okay, yeah. Especially after last night. And this morning."

His smile grows, but I get the weird feeling it's not because of what I just said. He's spaced out, looking up at something in the sky. I follow his gaze.

"Look at that." He points up, and I see it. "A rain…bow. Rein and Beau," he repeats, this time using our names.

"I love that."

"It's a new beginning," he says, bringing his gaze back to me. "I'm so excited for our new life together. I love you,Rein."

"And I love you,Beau."
