He kissed her lips and turned around to reach for his beer.
“And the baby,” she whispered just as he’d taken a sip.
Joseph coughed. Katherine patted his back as he choked on his beer and her news. When he finally recovered, he took a deep breath and turned her way.
“Baby?”
“I’m pregnant, Joseph.”
Twice in one day, she’d made him the happiest man in the world. “You’re having my baby?”
Katherine nodded and smiled. “Yep.”
Joseph’s heart swelled. He pulled her into his arms and held on to her for dear life. The thought of starting a family with Katherine filled him with a happiness he wasn’t sure he deserved.
He looked at the door. For a brief second, he had a mind to run across the hall to tell Jack his big news. It was what he would have done, had his friend been alive.
“Katherine?”
“Yes?”
“If we have a boy, is it okay if we name him Jackson?”
Katherine pulled out of his arms and caressed his jaw. “Of course. That’s a great name for a son.”
Joseph sighed with relief. “Thank you.”
“I’ve been thinking about names too.”
Joseph raised a brow. “Yeah?”
Katherine nodded. “If we have a girl, I was hoping to name her Emily.”
“Really?”
Katherine sighed and rested her head on his chest. “She’s the type of woman I’d like my daughter to be like. She’s beautiful, smart, hardworking, and she adores her family.”
Joseph kissed the top of her head. “I think that’s beautiful, sweetheart. I think that’s a great idea. But you do realize that you just described yourself as well.”
Katherine rubbed his chest. “Aw, honey. Thank you.”
Joseph lifted her off his chest and stood. “Come with me,” he said, holding out his hand.
She took his hand and stood. “Where are we going?”
Joseph scooped her up into his arms and kissed her lips. “We’re going to bed. I need to make love to my fiancée.”
Katherine giggled. “The future Mrs. Storm likes the sound of that.”
“Mrs. Storm, huh? I really like the sound ofthat.”
As Joseph carried his soon-to-be wife down the hall, he couldn’t have been more excited about the future.
The End
