“I broke the barrier,” she said, brushing her hands together with a smirk prominent on her beautiful face. “Let’s go.”
“Wait!” I gripped her wrist, stopping her from heading straight into the portal.
She turned toward me with a look of confusion on her face. “What?”
“Don’t go anywhere without us, and please be careful.”
Her lips curved into a smile, and she flashed me her fangs before coming forward and kissing my lips. “I promise.” Her breath fanned over my lips as she pulled away.
“Stay alert. All of you. Each of you are my weakness, so stay close to me.” She faced the portal again.
“I promise, love,” Thaddeus said.
“Of course,” Kai said.
Aziel sighed. “Anything for you, my beloved.”
“Let’s end this, Poppy.” She nodded, stepped forward and entered the portal.
All of us scrambled into it behind her, but when we stepped foot in purgatory, I was all alone.
