“Aspen.”
I groan loudly, tug my baseball cap off, and scrub a hand through my hair. Miles has been going back and forth to Aspen over the past month and has been uncharacteristically mysterious about it. I know it has to do with this girl. And I know it has to do with Santiago Torres, but that’s all.
Miles is a big boy, but after meeting Torres, I can’tdeny it makes me nervous, because Miles is also the biggest shit stirrer.
“Hendricks—”
“Yes, I’m here.”
“But I need youhere.”
“In Aspen?”
“Yes, the day after tomorrow. You have to be here, Hen.”
“Why, what’s so important?”
I don’t like the tension in his voice or the silence that follows.
And Idefinitelydon’t like his answer.
“Because I’m getting married, and I need you to be my best man.”
