“Yes, I did.”
The look on Ollie’s face is something else. Old Nina wants to brush the moment aside and make a joke, to say it’s no big deal. But changing my name, adding his to mine—I know that to Ollie, it means something.
He runs a hand through his hair. “Well, fuck me.”
“Sure, why not?”
He ignores the comment and turns to me, all excitement. “I’m changing mine too.”
I laugh. “You can’t change your name to Nina Lejeune-Dunne. Get your own name.”
“Ollie Lejeune-Dunne,” he says. “Does it sound too fancy?”
I take his hands in mine, hands I know better than my own, and press a kiss to each. “No,” I say. “I think it soundsmarvelous.”
