“She is,” he rasped out.

Dorrie wore a soft shade of lavender. From the bust, an overskirt of cream lace fell to the floor, parting in the middle to show the fabric beneath. Her hair was piled high, and she wore a wreath of lavender and cream flowers.

Ash felt his throat choke with emotion.

Dev wore the same clothes as he and looked proud as he stared down at his little sister. They then started walking down the aisle toward him to Emily’s music.

“Look after her, or you’ll answer to me.” Dev leaned in and whispered the words to Ash.

Gus had told him that Dev had said exactly this to him, so he nodded, but his eyes were on Dorrie.

“Hello,” she whispered.

“Hello, my love,” he replied. He leaned down and kissed her, and to hell with tradition.

“The kissing is at the end, Uncle Ash,” Luke called. His mother shushed him, and the guests laughed.

As it turned out Merry hit Katherine with her basket. Somehow the dogs knew they were all there and joined in the celebrations with loud barks of excitement as they galloped down the aisle.

“You may now kiss the bride.”

“About time,” Ash whispered, holding his wife’s shoulders. “I love you.”

Her smile would light the dullest day, and then he was kissing her soft lips.

“I hate this part,” Luke muttered. “Can we eat cake soon?”
