“Y’know, if it wasn’t for your brother being the worst stalker in history, we would’ve never reunited.”
“You’re right.” I lean up on my elbow, meeting his gaze. “So in a weird way, he came back from the dead to bring us together.”
He snickers, rubbing his thumb over my cheek. “Imagine puttin’ that on our wedding invites.”
I lose the ability to breathe.
After my first marriage imploded, I never wanted to go through that again, so it’s not something I’ve thought about.
“Amelia?”
I blink, shaking away my fears. “Yeah?”
“Baby, I have to tell you somethin’.”
My heart pounds at how intense he sounds. “What is it?”
He blows out a shaky breath before holding my gaze. “I’m so in love with you, darlin’. And I don’t want you to move out.”
Butterflies erupt in my stomach. “Colton, I?—”
“I know it’s soon, and you don’t have to say it back, but I just wanted you to know how I felt so there’s no question on what I’m willin’ to do for you and the kids to keep y’all safe,” he rambles quickly. “And if you also wanna stay, we’ll do some construction to add a third bedroom so the kids have their own spaces. Or if you want, we can find a new house together. Anythin’ you want.”
I stare at him in disbelief. At this man who’s proven time and time again how much he’s here for us. And how incredibly lucky I am to have him by my side.
“I’m sorry. That was a lot, wasn’t it? I shouldn’t have blurted all that out after what happened tonight. I wasn’t thinkin’. Ignore?—“
“Colt,” I interrupt, grabbing his face. “I love you too and don’t wanna move out either.”
“Really?” He beams, cupping my cheeks with his large palms.
I nod, trying hard not to cry again.
He crashes his mouth to mine, slipping his tongue between my lips as he rolls on top of me.
“Fuck, baby. Those are the most amazin’ words I’ve ever heard.” He holds himself up on his elbows, peering down at me with stars in his eyes. “I know how hard it was for you to open up your heart and trust again, so thank you for allowin’ me in yours and the kids’ lives. I promise I’ll always cherish the three of you.”
“Four,” I mutter, my heart pounding in my throat.
“What?”
“All four of us.” I suck in my lips nervously. “I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant.”

My mouth hangsopen at her unexpected words. “Are you serious?”
She nods slightly. “It’s too soon to test, but I had early symptoms with both pregnancies, so I think it’s possible. I know my body pretty well and when it changes.”
“What symptoms are you havin’?”
“Tender breasts. It’s always the first one I get, but they only get this way when I’m pregnant.”
I swallow hard, lowering my gaze to her stomach. “Holy shit.”
“Are you upset? It’s okay if you are. It’s quick, and we didn’t exactly plan for this, so if you?—“
