I’m ready to get dirty. Past ready.
When I rose, my nose filled with Geo’s powerful aroma, sending my tail swaying. My knife fell to the ground, and I walked with an exaggerated tilt of my hips, prowling toward Geo. As much as I didn’t want to believe it, denying I was in full heat right now would be stupid. Without the cold baths, heat suppressants and confined quarters of home, only one thing could slake my need. He happened to be three steps away and smelling of warm summer fields.
The cloth covering his bicep had split, and I wanted to rub my cheek along the round bulb of smooth muscle. His massive pectoral muscles bulged under his bib overalls, the clasps at their breaking point. Pale green eyes were riveted on mine, and his nostrils flared. He stood still, drugged by me. My omega traits pulled him in hook, line and sinker, and for now, he remained mine for the taking.
“This way.” I crooked my finger and sauntered toward the cave we’d found earlier.
He blindly followed my swaying tail. Right where I wanted him.
A smooth gray-and-white marbled stone ramp replaced the springy grass beneath my boots before it reached a narrow entrance. Once inside, the cave opened into a dome. Warm and humid, it reeked of sulfur, and an escape from the ever-present pink dust of Tern proved impossible. It sparkled like glitter where sunlight streamed through the tiny, pockmarked holes in the curved ceiling.
The air crackled with tension. Locked eye to eye, we stood facing each other, suspended in time.
Geo lunged for me, pressed his nose to the soft spot behind my ear where my scent was the strongest and huffed deeply.
“Yes,” I moaned.
He pulled his gloves off and flung them to the ground before he slid his rough fingers down my tail. “Soft,” he growled. His arms bulged as he pinned me to the side of the damp wall. Calloused palms traveled over my hips and ribcage and feathered over my neck, where his fingers twisted into my tangled mane. Sparks erupted over my skin everywhere he touched. I sighed when he cupped the back of my head, freeing the tie holding my mane away from my face.
“Are you okay?” His voice dipped so low it landed in the pit of my belly, stirring up need. Geo’s neck flushed red, and one blunt tooth held down his lower lip as if to punish it. “I was worried.”
I licked my lips, nodded, and bared my neck in submission. Warm summer fields had never smelled this good.
“I’ll tell you later.” The heat built under my skin, impatient for this conversation to end.
He leaned in, and his hot breath skimmed my neckline as he pressed against me from thigh to chest. My knees grew weak when his beard rasped against the thinner skin over my collarbone. “Like velvet.” His deep voice rasped. The point of his tongue tapped against the sensitive skin, a Morse code plea to…
I lost the last vestiges of control when he nibbled up my neck to my jawline. “Oh, goddess,” I moaned. His pheromones drove me past delirium, and I clung to his muscled arms.
Geo grasped my hips and pressed his lips against mine. The little sucking kisses shot directly to my tightening groin. My passageway throbbed, the waxy coating building.
It needed to be filled.
Geo’s tongue coaxed my mouth open. When I yielded to him, his blunt teeth grazed over my lips. Our tongues tangled and untangled—a promise of things to come—muffling my moans until I gasped for air.
“Makir? Geo?” JayJay called from the cave entrance.
Not now. I can’t hold back any longer.
“Fuck.” Geo lurched away from me. His pupils were dilated, and only a tiny sliver of pale green remained when he forced his gaze away. He rearranged himself under his overalls before walking stiffly to the cave entrance while I swayed in a lusty haze.
Geo returned, holding a bag. He rocked from side to side, an arm’s length away. “Told him we found a hot spring, and you wanted to explore the cave a bit more for future hunting trips. To go on back without us.”
“Did he believe that?” I asked cheekily, one brow raised in question as I eyed his rumpled state and swollen lips.
“Not one bit.” Geo’s face flushed red. “He gave me this bag”—Geo tossed the bag to me—“and told me to have fun. They’re leaving and taking your trailer.” His foot traced circles in the soil where it drifted inside the cave and formed ridges.
I smiled to myself. If Geo didn’t know the drill, at least JayJay had caught on.
“Everyone has as much mantu as they can eat, so they’re not too upset about being woken up before dawn to rescue you,” Geo said.
“I didn’t need rescuing.” I peeked into the bag. It held two large containers of water, dried mantu strips and graneth puffs.
Geo’s eyes narrowed. “Ah, did you see the bloodbath out there? What the hell happened?”
“Hot,” I groaned as I shamelessly wiggled my boots free and unzipped my jumpsuit, kicking them both to the side. The demands of my heat overpowered my need to explain the events of the night before. Geo’s pectoral muscles pulsed with each piece of clothing I shed. His gulp was audible when I dumped the water from one of the containers down my arms and over my hands to wash away any lingering blood from the mantu I’d butchered.
“Jesus Christ,” he groaned. “I guess you are into guys,” he said with so much reverence I laughed.
