Her lower lip stuck out. “I was going to ask that.”

“You answer, then I will.”

“Sounds fair.” She rose up on her elbow. “I was thinking how nice getting a hug and a kiss would be.”

“That is funny, because I thought the same thing.”

She grinned. “GMTA.”

Great minds think alike. True, and he had another acronym for her. “LWMK.”

Her eyebrows drew together. “I don’t know that one.”

“Lips want more kisses.”

Iris’s face scrunched. “You made that up.”

He shrugged. “Yeah. The real meaning is locking wall mount kit, but I prefer my definition.”

Especially with Iris.

She nodded. “So do I.”

That was the only invitation Dash needed. He leaned closer, touching his mouth to hers. She tasted like peppermint, but the same underlying Iris—sweetness—was also there.

He’d missed this.

Missed her.

Dash kept the kiss light because they didn’t need to rush into anything.

Iris backed away first. “We need a new rule.”

“You’re thinking of rules during a hot kiss?”

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

As Iris finished the second week of culinary school, she’d never been happier. Glancing in the mirror, she removed the rubber band from her ponytail and shook out her hair. She changed into a pair of leggings and a large sweatshirt, perfect Friday night clothing.

Dash had canceled their plans on Tuesday when Mason asked for help with something. Tonight was Dash’s way of making that up to her—pizza and video games. He’d given her the choice of what to play. She chose Mario Kart because she could beat him at that.

Not that Iris needed to win. She would leave that to Blaise Mortenson. Being with Dash was the best prize ever. This past week, she wondered if her feet even touched the ground. Tony asked if she would sign a prenup. Leo told her she had a bounce to her step. Janice mentioned Iris’s glowing complexion.

Iris just smiled, but she knew things were going well. She enjoyed her classes, and spending time with Dash was wonderful. For a guy who didn’t know the definition of romance, he was doing a good job being romantic. Whenever they were together, he focused solely on her.

No pulling out his cell phone. No distractions.

Mr. Status Quo appeared to be embracing the changes with her and their friendship so well that he might need a new nickname.

That brought a smile.

She headed downstairs to see if Tony needed help with dinner.

So far, she and Dash had eaten out, visited an arcade, and gone bowling. At home, they’d binge watched series and caught up on movies neither had seen. No matter what they did or even when they did nothing but talk, each minute was better than the next
