Mason:Are you hosting on Sunday?

Sunday in January meant football games. Dash checked his calendar. Football playoffs. He’d hosted the New Year’s party and poker night. More than his share this month. But if they watched the game at his house, Iris would be there. This would be the perfect time to see howTonyhandled an event. That way, she could mingle and hang out with Dash. And if Mr. Charming Chef messed up, then he would have a valid reason to fire the guy other than not liking how he flirted with Iris. A win-win.

Dash:Yes. I’ll send out details later.

First, he needed to make sure Tony could work because he didn’t want Iris to do anything more than oversee her new hire. Dash wanted her to be a guest at the party. She’d never been one at any event he’d thrown.

Something Raina had said popped in to his mind.

When was the last time you did anything with her outside of the house?

He’d totally forgotten about that.

Idiot.

Him, not her.

Dash owed Raina for telling him that. Now it was up to him to make amends. So far, he’d helped Iris pack her kitchen and bookshelf, eaten dinner with her twice, and watched a movie. He’d enjoyed them, but all had been at his house or her cottage. The football game would be, too. That meant going out.

He thought for a moment.

Nothing came to mind as to what they should do.

Dash had no idea where Iris liked to go these days. She let him choose the place when they were younger or where they ordered takeout when they were older. Not once had she complained about anything. He’d also never noticed that until now.

Self-absorbed much? He needed to watch what he said about Henry. Speaking of the guy, he might know what to do. Dash sent him a text.

Dash:Where would you take Iris for dinner?

Henry:Are we talking me or actually you?

Dash:Me, but she would tell me to pick a restaurant and I don’t want that.

Henry:Well done, Master Dashiell.

Dash:So where?

Henry:There’s a fish place in John’s Landing. Super casual, but a favorite of hers.

Dash:She’s never mentioned it.

Henry:You’re not a big seafood eater.

Dash:I eat salmon.

Henry:Which they serve. They also have chicken strips, so you won’t starve. Be sure to get the sweet potato fries. She loves those.

Dash:Okay.

Henry:Raina’s been texting the SOs saying you broke up with her.

Dash:I did. Is she okay?

Henry:Are you having second thoughts about ending things?

Dash:No, but I should have listened to you guys and made sure she understood how I felt. I didn’t want to hurt her.

Henry:You’re a good guy, but this is for the best. Trust me.
