“Order up,” someone in the kitchen called out. Tony, perhaps?
“I think that’s our cue to sit,” she said.
“Fine,” Dash pulled out a chair for her. “But I need a raincheck on more kisses.”
“You can have as many as you want for as long as you want.”
Dash grinned. “I’m holding you to that.”
Iris sighed. She kind of felt like Cinderella minus the glass slipper, but she got something so much better than Prince Charming—Dash.
And she wouldn’t change a thing.
EPILOGUE
June 27th
Henry loved June weddings. Who was he kidding? Nuptials were his favorite event to attend, and this one…
He raised his champagne flute for a toast. Not to the bride and the groom who, with both of their hands on a silver cutter, sliced into the elaborate tiered wedding cake. No, this toast was for him.
I did it again.
Feeling as buoyant as the bubbles floating to the top of his glass, his smiled widened.
Once again, his mad matchmaking skills had brought a couple together. The love radiating from Iris and Dash made up for Henry’s frustration over the groom taking so long to see what was in front of him. His friend had needed a push—okay, a shove. A big one from Henry, and making his green-eyed monster take control had worked better than expected. Not his usual method to bring two people together, but a necessary one to show Dash the love of his life had been right under his nose since he was thirteen.
Henry had nothing against Raina, but she hadn’t been the right woman for Wonderkid. Dash needed someone who saw past his net worth and brilliant brain to the man inside. Iris, sweet-wonderful-caring-cooks-like-a-dream Iris, was that person. She always would be today, tomorrow, and every day after that. Thank goodness Henry and the others could help them resolve their differences and reunite. Otherwise, none of them would be here celebrating.
A satisfied feeling flowed through Henry. His success rate with couples should worry Hadley Mortenson, but he wouldn’t rub it in. Not at the reception. But perhaps at the brunch tomorrow.
Today, he would revel in his latest accomplishment.
Thanks to him, another billionaire of Silicon Forest would live happily ever after. Only one remained single—Wes—which meant he won the bet, but he and Paige would say “I do” on July eighteenth.
Well, done, Davenport.
He raised his glass slightly before sipping the expensive bubbly. Delicious. Champagne tasted better at weddings.
As the crowd cheered, Iris and Dash stared lovingly at one another. Then, each took a piece of cake and served it to the other. Politely. No teasing or smashing the cake into the other’s face. That boded well for the future according to an article Henry had read about lasting relationships. Like his other matches, this one would last.
Knowing that pleased him more than all the money in the world—and he had a good chunk of that in his bank and investment accounts. But Henry wanted to learn everything he could to make sure his friends remained happily married. That was the least he could do for the people who were now his family.
Well, the closest thing he had to one.
Hope you’re finally proud of me, Mom and Dad.
Henry took another sip.
Now, to figure out how to follow this up…
Ideas flowed through his head.
Blaise strode up to him, wearing what appeared to be a new tuxedo. No doubt, Hadley’s influence. “You’re gloating.”
“I believe the correct term is glowing,” Henry said.
“No.” Blaise studied him. “Definitely gloating.”
