Nope.

He wouldn’t turn into a total creeper and log on to the tracking app to see where Henry was. So what if Iris had left at a quarter past twelve, almost ten hours ago? She would be home soon. She had to be. Unless…

What if she wasn’t coming home tonight?

Dash sucked in a breath. He didn’t want to know the answer.

Except he really did.

Ugh. Strange and unfamiliar emotions swirled inside him.

Why had this become such a big deal?

Iris dated. At least, Dash assumed that was what she did if she went on Friday or Saturday night. He couldn’t remember hearing any guys’ names, not that he’d asked, or recall checking to see if she’d stayed out all night. It didn’t matter because she was always around when he needed her the next day. Yet, tonight…

His phone rang.

The ringtone was the Main Theme from the Ori and the Blind Forest video game.

Not Iris, but Raina.

He snagged the phone from his pocket. “Hey. Having a good time?”

“Hi, babe.” She spoke with affection. “I’m having a fantastic weekend. So glad you talked me into coming. We’re getting ready to go dancing.”

Dash wasn’t much of a dancer, but he’d tried his best for Raina’s sake at Blaise and Hadley’s wedding. He’d be doing the same when Wes and Paige set a date for their nuptials. “Sounds fun.”

“It will be.” Laughter sounded in the background. Someone yelled tequila shots. “No deadlines to worry about. Lots of girl talk. A relaxing spa day. This trip is exactly what I needed.”

“You’ve been working hard.” Multiple issues had delayed her newest game’s launch. That had meant extra hours during the week and on weekends. She’d almost had to cancel on her friend’s bachelorette party, but he’d convinced her to go even though she’d be playing catch-up once she returned. “You deserve some R and R.”

“I wish you were with me.”

He laughed. “Not sure I would enjoy the spa and girl talk as much as you.”

Raina sighed. “The massage was heavenly.”

“That part would be awesome. Maybe I should make an appointment.” He hadn’t had one in over a week. He rolled his shoulders. “My muscles are tight.”

“Higher workload?”

“Not really.” Though maybe his job was why his stress level kept skyrocketing today.

“Anything I can do?” she asked.

“Keep enjoying yourself so you’re all smiles when you come home.”

“I will. Oh, before I forget.” Raina paused. “What’s going on with Henry and Iris?”

Hearing the two names together sent Dash’s stomach plummeting. “What do you mean?”

“Henry posted a pic of him and Iris together on his IG.”

A band tightened around Dash’s chest. Squeezed. Tight. He forced himself to breathe. “What did the caption say?”

“Having fun in the rain. No hashtag ‘official’ or anything like that.”

He released the breath he’d been holding. “They had plans to hang out today.”
