Dash pinched the bridge of his nose and inhaled deeply.
“We’ve been watching him,” I said. “But we’ve been responsible for a lot of bodies over the last few weeks. We were trying to space them out.”
“Bodies?” Raven asked. “When did No Nuts become plural?”
“Will,” I said simply.
“Who?” they asked.
“Will Woods, the guy who attacked Macy at the diner because we beat up his brother Willy,” I explained. “He also had a history with Tawny.”
“We didn’t hear about that,” Blaze said.
“Exactly.”
Dash shook his head. “Follow us back to the clubhouse. Stay right behind us. No bullshit. No stunts.”
“Promise.”
I glanced at the time when we were close to the clubhouse. “How do you want to do this?” I asked. “Ariel is probably at the back door waiting to sneak in for Ink’s surprise proposal right now.”
“We’ll still go around back,” Dash said. “I’ll get Ember to reroute Ariel.”
“What about Blaze and Raven?”
“They need to go in the front and join the party. I’ll text Raven.”
“Should probably let my dad know we’re bringing in a guest.”
“Already did.”
“What did he say?” I chuckled.
“Not much, surprisingly. He said to put him in the basement, and we’d deal with it after the surprise.”
Other than Jason waking up and screaming like a banshee as we drove by the clubhouse, everything was going according to plan.
Until an hour later when I got a text message from Blaze.
Blaze:Can you come to the basement?
Fuck. I could only imagine what she had done.
Without a word, I nudged Dad with my elbow and showed him the text from Blaze. Dad closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. “Text Dash.”
Dash met us in the hallway. “What’s going on now?”
“We’re about to find out,” Dad said and unlocked the door to the basement.
When we reached the bottom of the stairs, Blaze and Raven waved at us with blood-covered hands as Jason Morris’s lifeless body lay at their feet. “What’s the clean-up protocol?”
