She shrieked with laughter as he picked her up and swung her in a circle before pulling her in for a deep, heartfelt kiss.
“Literally nothing would make me happier, honey,” he told her, pressing their foreheads together. “I mean, you are a complete menace for bringing this up right now, when we have to pretend to be normal for the next few hours, and not, like, totally insanely happy, butnothingwould make me happier.”
She pulled him down for a kiss. Surely, they had time for just one more kiss.
“Oh, hello, there. Don’t mind us. We’re just here to see the artwork, so you can carry on doing what you’re doing.”
Except apparently, they didn’t have time for just one more kiss, because that was June’s voice.
Cadence and Tyler leapt apart from one another. Cadence knew she was blushing so much she must look like a tomato.
Behind June stood Diana, Eleanor, Garrett, and Miriam. The last of these was looking like this was the best day of her life.
Embarrassment aside, Cadence could relate. She wasn’t sure she’d ever been this happy.
She squeezed Tyler’s hand.
“Hi, yes, come in,” she said. “There’s lots to see. Things are better than ever. You’re going to love it.”
Tyler squeezed her fingers back, and she knew that he knew the words were for him.
