"On three," Archer said. "One, two, three."

We swung Wentworth as Archer counted down, then heaved him into the dumpster. His body fell in with a satisfying thud. The kind that sounds final, so you know an ordeal has come to an end.

Or at least, this one long night.

Archer wiped his hands on his jeans and closed the dumpster.

"I wouldn't mind if the trash took itself out," he said. "But sometimes it needs a bit of help."

I laughed softly. "Yes, it does."

He regarded me for a moment. "Do you want to go for a coffee?"

"Sure," I said, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "I'd like that."

I had a feeling I was going to be seeing more of Archer. "You didn't tell me why you were there to kill him," I said.

Did he have a grudge for a different reason than I did? As far as I knew, people didn't usually go around trying to murder people. I didn’t; justparticularpeople.

"I'll tell you over coffee," he said, closing the back of the car. "I'd like to hear your reasons."

"It's a long story," I said.

"That's okay.” He slid back into the driver's seat and waited until I was in the passenger side before saying, "I have all night."
