Stan snorted and swatted my hand away. "No fucking in the kitchen. I don't want phoenix cum in my food."

"Fine. How about insideyou?" I teased.

Stan shot me a sly look. "I'll think about it when this egg finally pops out of me. Or hatches. Or whatever eggs do."

"Laid. Eggs get laid."

"Lucky eggs."

I laughed. "Someone's feeling silly this morning. Here, I made bacon too." I added it to his plate before he could stop me. I needed my mate to eat well while he carried our baby. "Eat as much as you can."

"Thanks. And yeah, I guess it's easier to be silly around someone when you know they're not judging you." He smiled. "So, thanks for that too."

I put the spatula down and put my hands on his waist, pulling him close. "I take it this means you're happy you won that contest all those months ago?"

"Extremely. I owe Alice and Donna an apology. Letting them throw that baby shower they keep begging to do might work, too."

"Those nice ladies want to throw a baby shower and you said no? You're awful," I said with a grin. "They just want to show off how much they love you."

"I didn't sayno, I said I'd think about it. I'm leaning towardsyesnow, if it makes you feel better. Though it'll have to be when the baby actually hatches. I'm not ready to explain the whole phoenix-egg thing to the world."

"Fair. Maybe when the time is right, we can do it together."

Stan's smile was brighter and more beautiful than any single one of my phoenix feathers. Just as he leaned in for a kiss, he said, "Together."
