“Uh-uh, we don’t keep secrets from Daddy, ever!” she exclaimed seriously.
“That’s right, baby. Now go and say sorry to Jude for hurting him.”
Compliantly, the little girl ran off to find her friend after kissing her father again.
“Jimbo, I know you shouldn’t have favourites.” Laughed Bobby. “But that kid is my favourite of all of your children. She has the unrelenting belief that she is always right, like you, but she also has Tasha’s edge too. She is going to be a real ballbreaker, or an ace prosecutor.” He laughed again before he called after his niece, “Hey, Aimee, wait for Uncle Bobby, I need to know more about this caster couch.”
Pulling his wife close into his side, Jim leaned in and placed a delicate kiss on her ear and whispered, “I think you and I should meet in my office, later.”
Turning to face him her eyes widened, her breathing hitched as her face, neck and chest flushed with arousal making him smile.
“And we all need to close doors and choose our language more carefully,” he added.
She smiled in response and knew that she really couldn't wish for anything else in this world or the next. She was happy, safe and content, as were all of the people she cared about and most of them were here. She had everything she'd ever dreamed of; a warm, loving family who loved and cared about her, friends she could truly trust, Dan and Pippa were safe from the harm she herself had endured and she had the best man in the world to call her husband, a man who loved her more than anything and wasn't afraid to show it. Together they had their children, all of them, Philip, Lizzie, Connor and Aimee. Four children when just five years ago she’d had no clue she would ever want any, but that was before she’d met James Maybury, before she’d become his Lucky Seven.
