“Hurry. You feel too good.”
Hearing the desperation in his voice sets me off again, and I shudder and shake in his arms as he releases with a loud groan.
The hot pulses between my legs feel amazing, and I close my eyes and enjoy every last surge of his body.
After a minute, he slumps on top of me.
For a moment, he’s not the enemy. I’m not a McAllister whose brothers hate him. I’m just a girl who’s always liked the moody bastard.
As I stare at my foggy windows, I thread my fingers through his sweaty hair. “Did I scratch your itch?”
Beau laughs and pulls away. “And then some.”
I expect him to tease me more. We just had this intense thing happen between us, which I wasn’t expecting. Because when you’ve only had mediocre sex, you don’t realize that spectacular sex will knock you on your ass.
Instead, as we get dressed, he gets quiet. Looks down or away.
His silence makes me uneasy.
When he finally looks at me, whatever intimacy we just fostered is gone. “You gonna get home okay, Little Mac?”
That fucking nickname again.
His words instantly put me on edge. “Just fine, Walker.” And because I want to beat him to the punch, I say the words I know he’s thinking. “Guess we got it out of our systems.”
After he hops out of my SUV, he gives me a tight smile and nods. “Definitely. Just a one and done.”

BEAU
It’s official.I’m a fucking dumbass.
Groaning at my stupidity for the ham-handed way I left things with Honey, I grab a log and place it on the chopping block.
I hear my brother before I see him out of the corner of my eye.
“Came to check on you.” Rhett meanders into my backyard, leans against an oak tree, and crosses his arms. “Haven’t seen you in a while. Heard there was a Big Foot sighting in these parts.” Confused, I look at my brother. He motions to his face. “I’m making a joke about your beard.”
“Just haven’t gotten around to shaving.” Which has nothing to do with Honey saying she liked my scruff. “I did everything on that list you gave me.”
“Appreciate that, but I figured you’d stop by for dinner since you’ve been off work.”
“Needed some time to think.” About how I fucked Honey McAllister in the back of her SUV like a damn one-night stand.
“Why do you look so pissed?” Rhett asks as I grab another log. “What did that mesquite ever do to you?”
I grunt in response.
I’ve been kicking myself since I left Honey in the parking lot of the Laughing Pony a couple of days ago. Why didn’t I get her number? Why didn’t I offer to follow her home to make sure she got back okay? And why the fuck did I tell her we were “one and done?” I mean, yes, we said we’d just have sex that one time, but I don’t want her feeling like a sleazy, nameless hookup.
If the truth be told, I wasn’t prepared for the sex to be so explosive. For her to be so responsive. For her moans to make me so crazed.
For one time to not be enough.
It’s been messing with my head. I thought sex was just sex. Judging by the way I wake up hard and aching for her every morning, I was wrong.
Rhett scratches his beard. “If I had to guess, this has to do with a woman.”
