“Let them wait.”
“You don’t mean that,” I say, but then he’s kissing me again, and all the hesitation is gone.
“How long have you been planning this?” he asks.
“About a month. The boys helped me pick the ring out. Do you like it?”
Something like wonder passes over his face as he stares at the band again. “They know?”
I had to basically promise them my soul to get them to keep it a secret, but they do. “Karter wants to be a flower boy at the wedding. Do you think we can make that happen?”
I can’t wait. Can’t wait to marry him. Be his husband. Be a stepdad and be part of his family. Our family. For real. Forever.
“Flower boy?” Nash says.
“He didn’t see why it had to be a girls-only job. I said it was a little non-traditional, that I’d talk to you.”
“Definitely workable. You’re a smart guy,” he says against my lips. “You’ll figure something out.”
With him, it doesn’t matter. We’ll find what works for us. Everything else is details.
