“I’m sure.”

The reassurance in Dominic’s tone helped ease some of the tension that had built up. His decision felt right, like a door closing on a turbulent chapter of our lives.

I released the breath I was holding. “We’ve survived the hurricanes of this world and a hell of a whirlwind in the nether world,” I said, my voice steady and sure. “We can survive anything together.”

“Damn straight,” Lucas agreed.

Dominic grinned. “Anything together.”

I had my mates, and we could overcome everything, even hurricanes.

Thank you, Fate.

I'm a Masochist

Walter

WhywasIhere?I had sworn to myself the last time that I wouldn’t come, I wouldn’t answer his call. Yet, here I was, perched outside, wrestling with the same old question—was I doing the right thing? I didn’t feel like I was. I felt like I was making an awful decision.

My lion, on the other hand, was eager to close the distance between us and our mate. He didn’t understand the complexities of human relationships. “He’s married,” I whispered into the quiet of the car, a futile attempt to reason with my beast.

The roar that answered back carried a mix of frustration and defiance. To my lion, no one else had a claim on our mate; he was unequivocally ours. “He’s happily married,” I added, emphasizing the word “to a woman.”

But my lion was undeterred, its roar a clear dismissal of my concerns.

I sighed, looking out the windshield at the apartment building that housed the man who’d unwittingly ensnared my heart. “I’m a fucking masochist,” I muttered to myself, the words a whispered admission of my own stubborn pain.

Fates, help me,I pleaded silently, stepping out of the car. My heart hammered against my chest as I waved to my mate, the familiar warmth of his smile undoing all my resolve in an instant.

I'm so fucking screwed.
