I chuckle. “Definitely. You?”

He shakes his head. “Not a damn second.” Then, his expression darkens. “We should talk. In private.”

I nod. “Sure. But let me check the shipment first. Everything stored?”

Hayden walks beside me as we make our way through the warehouse, his gaze scanning the crates.

With a respectful nod, my other guy leaves, giving us privacy. Hayden and I go over the drugs and weapons, and he reassures me that everything’s accounted for.

“Buyers lined up?” I ask.

He nods. “Yeah, most of them are junkies, we know them all. But a few haven’t paid us in months.”

I exhale sharply. “Track them down. Get Julian to handle it.”

Hayden doesn’t question it. We both know Julian is the best man for this kind of job. He can be fucking terrifying when he wants to be.

It’s a good thing for me, however, that he never scares me. He only pisses me off.

Hayden fires off a quick text to Julian, telling him they’ll go over the details later.

Good. I’m not wasting quality shit on assholes who don’t pay. They either pay up, give us something valuable we can sell, work for us, or they die.

Simple rules. I prefer it if they have something useful to offer, but I’m not giving them the satisfaction of stealing from me.

Once we’re done checking everything, we leave the warehouse. Thankfully, everything’s intact—no missing shipments, no surprises. Thank God.

But as soon as we step into my office, I can tell something is off. Hayden’s whole demeanor shifts.

“So, what is it?” I ask immediately, not even bothering to sit down.

Hayden exhales. “You talked to Julian, didn’t you?”

I nod. “Yeah. Not the results I was hoping for.”

He hums. “Well. I got different results.”

I narrow my eyes. “What the hell does that mean? Did Julian—”

Did Julian seriously try to hide something? My pulse ticks up, every muscle in my body ready to move.

But to my surprise, Hayden shakes his head. “No. Julian doesn’t know. It’s not on him.”

That… wasn’t what I expected.

“I found something after he went to bed,” Hayden continues.

I frown. “Didn’t Julian crash at four or something?”

Hayden grins. “Told you I didn’t sleep at all. Kept digging. And I found some pretty interesting shit.”

Oh, how I fucking love this man.

If I was gay, I’d probably be into him.

Thank God I’m not, though.

“What is it?” I ask.
