“I love you, sweetheart…” I whisper.
“I love you the most, pretty,” he replies.
He does exactly what we should’ve done a week ago. He’s holding me. Kissing me.
Making me feel as if heaven isn’t a place to reach for after life ends, but as if there’s heaven on earth, hidden deep behind all the struggling and pain our society goes through.
Chapter Fifty-five
Jennifer
I moan into the kiss, feeling his hands run down my body after he pushed me onto his bed.Ourbed.
After making out on the beach for God knows how long, both of us decided that the first time we’re having sex after we got engaged should preferably not be on the beach again.
Not that I wouldn’t have liked it, but seriously, I’ve seen at least 10 people walk around there. Including cops.
I’m not planning to go to jail for public fucking before I get married to Daniel.
“We should probably… Tell them as soon as possible.” I whisper against his lips before he claims them as his once more.
“We should. But not tonight. Tonight, it’s only us.” He replies before his hands make quick work on my blouse; every button undone with purpose.
The fabric slips from my shoulders before he throws it onto the ground.
His lips leave mine only to trail down my jaw, to my neck, where he lingers—biting gently, sucking, as if he wants to leave a mark.
Like he wants to show others I belong to him. But I’m wearing his mom’s necklace, and I’m wearing his ring.
I do belong to him. Everybody can see that. And everybody knows.
“Daniel…” I breathe.
“I know,” he murmurs, voice trembling against my skin. “You’ve missed this, haven’t you?”
He lifts me, effortlessly, laying me down as if I’m fragile. Like he’s terrified I’ll vanish if he blinks. He moves above me, but it doesn’t feel like he’s trying to rush things.
He’s savoring every second of our bodies touching, the low sounds he makes like music in my ears.
And when our bodies meet, it’s more than just lust—it’s months of tension unravelling, piece by aching piece.
Both of us have been messed up by stress. Our sleep schedules? Terrible. Our anxiety levels? Don’t even get me started on that.
But tonight, unlike the other times we’ve done it, both of us know that there’s nothing out there anyone that could harm us. All the danger is gone and so is all the stress.
As he moves inside me, slowly, reverently, our eyes lock. No masks. No lies. Just pure love, pure lust, pure loyalty.
It’s the first time I see Daniel without his Armor.
And in that moment, as his lips brush mine again, I realize—
He’smyheaven.
He’s the one life wanted for me, and though I never thought I could trust this man, fuck, I do.
I trust him with my life, and he trusts me with his.
He killed for me, and I killed for him.
