I sucked in a breath as my entire body stilled. My heart was pounding so hard that I could hear it, and for once, I was at a loss for words. Panther was telling me what I wanted to hear, but did he know what he was saying? Did he understand the implications, or was this a knee-jerk reaction to seeing me?
My words came out a bit shaky as I said, “Everyone would know.”
Panther held my gaze, strong and steady as ever, but I could see the fear there too. “I know.”
Shit.Maybe, just maybe, it was time to knock down that final wall. To let someone else in. To letGrantin.
I took another step toward him, and when he didn’t back away, I held out my hand.
If he wanted me and was willing to risk it all, then maybe tonight wasn’t the time to go solo. Maybe this time we’d do it together.
Panther looked down at the hand I offered, hesitating, and when he looked back up at me, I winked. “Do you trust me?”
